HAHAHAHA,

I am so happy today, I bought a Mac Mini Core Solo from a co-worker today. He just upgraded to a new iMac 24" and loves it and doesn't need his old Mac Mini Core Solo. He came over to my desk asked if I wanted it, I asked how much, he told me 200 bucks!!!!

I went to the bank and gave him cash. I have never seen a Mac Mini Core anything online that cheap. Thinking about doing a CPU Swap in it to either a Core Duo T2300 because of how inexpensive the CPU is, you can get it on eBay for about 50 bucks.

Congrats! First on getting a Mini and second on such a great price. That is much lower than I paid for my 1.66ghz Core duo.

Thank you, this is actually my second Mac Mini, I have a G4 Mac Mini that is a 1.25Ghz model that I have been using for a while and this is going to replace it.

Wow congrats. If only some one could offer me such a deal!

Honestly it just by chance, when I order my Power Mac Dual G5 1.8Ghz off of eBay, the Auction said it was the model that could only hold 4gb of ram and when I got it and opened it up, it was the 8gb model.

I am sure a deal will come your way sooner or later!!!!

Considering it was $500 when it was released I hardly think so.

Plus, try finding one a Intel Mac Mini for under 350. I agree with NintendoFan.

Yeah it might have been the slowest Intel Mac that Apple ever released, but its upgradeable, heck I am thinking about putting a Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0Ghz 4mb cache in the Mac Mini and upgrading the Mac from a 32bit single core to a 64 bit dual core system. Including the CPU to do so, I would only be spending about 350 on the little Mac Mini. I think that is a good deal personally.

More than likely though I am going to get an old T2300 for about 40 ~ 50 bucks on ebay and have a nice little Core Duo Mac Mini.

$200? Thats really expensive for THE slowest and most crippled Intel powered Mac ever made.

Its really not, and yes it is the slowest INTEL Mac Apple ever produced, but it makes my G4 Mac Mini 1.25Ghz Mac Mini look like a nice paper weight.

UPDATE I just bought a Intel Core Duo 1.66Ghz T2300 on eBay for 37 bucks including shipping. It should be a nice speed boost compared to my Core Solo 1.5Ghz!!!! I was thinking about getting a T7200 ~ T7600 Core 2 Duo, but I think I will wait for the prices to come a little more before I do that!!! So far I have spent 237.00 bucks and I will have a Mac Mini Core Duo 1.66Ghz . . . . I think I am doing pretty good at the moment ;-)!

Now that is quite a steal.

Core Duo is not 64 bit.

I never said anywhere that the T2300 was 64bit . . . I stated I could make the machine 64bit if I went with a T7200/T7400 Intel Core 2 Duo.

When I said the following:

Yeah it is, the only upgrades I want to do eventually is up the hard drive, max the ram out and put in a super drive and then I think I will be set.

You could put a nice 7200 rpm hard drive in there if you really want to max it out!

Do you know what speed the hard drive is? I think some of the earlier mini's shipped with a 4200rpm drive, i know that my 1.83 machine has a 5400 however.
What hard drive would you plan on putting in?

I was actually looking at the 5400 because nothing I do requires fast disk activity, I mostly watch movies and tv shows that I have recorded, so I like 5400 drives because they also run cooler and use less power.

I was thinking of getting either the 250gb or the 320gb drive for my Mac Mini.

Yeah, a hard drive upgrade will be good - I find 80GB a bit limiting.
7200s are quite expensive and its not your main computer i guess. The mac mini is amazing for power usage.

No the Mac Mini is not main computer, that is what my Macbook is for, I love that thing, the case is falling apart around it but it works great! I can't tell you how times it been dropped or thrown around on an airplane in bad turbulence.

Even through all of that, the Macbook has never stop working for me .

nice, im trying to find the same kind of mac mini you were able to get. and for $200, it does sound like a steal, esp since you can throw in a core 2 duo in there

Congratulations on your acquirance/purchase. Not a bad machine at all, excellent for all the right stuff :)

Yeah that is a very true statement, I have been using it for about two days now and I love the little machine. I likeit how its always there, I can't explain it, my G4 Mac Mini just feels like it struggles at times compared to my Core Solo Mac Mini.

I still love both Mac Minis, but that might be because I am a G4 Cube owner :D.
