Well I noticed that Launchpad fade in / fade out is sometimes sluggish. Doesn't go away with reinstalling or any other way.
I use my MBA mainly for Websurfing, Skyping, light image editing, and Movies.

My main idea was that i either pay 250€ for apple care or sell my MBA and use the money for a new MBA.

New MBA release doesn't make your old MBA slower, though. So if the current MBA is serving you fine, why should you? :D.

And regarding you above use cases, I would say wait for Air 2013 like me (I upgrade from base 11" with 4GB to ultimate 11" last week )

When you guys say upgrade, and trade in - is there some place that most people do this? I have a 2010 13" MBP for leisure use, and am considering going with the new i7 air. Where is the best place to trade in/sell off a year old mac?

You could use ebay, but I for my part rather offer it as classified advertisement.
Sold my very first 2009 MBA like that, and my 2009 iMac.

Took me 4 trys, but after calling the apple store again......the sales rep said they do have the 1.8ghz i7 processor.

They kept saying "we have what is already configured on the apple store. (i5 processor)" Finally, I said "well, I called other apple stores, and they said that they have the i7 1.8 processors." The woman put me on hold, and went in the back to check. She came back on the phone and said that they actually do have 1.8 ghz processor MBA's in stock.

She was the only one who went to check for me, none of the others knew. Most of them just said "we have the base configurations."

YAY! :D

Too funny.

I am
Considering buying an air to supplement my Mbp 15" 2011 , I waited on iPad because I wanted to possibly buy the air as my companion. I am waiting on new Mac pro as well. Wanted to pull the trigger on 27" iMac but can't stand the glossy screen on iMac. Is the 13" air glossy screen? Can inlay for the matte screen like I did on my Mbp?

Thank u. Enjoy ur air.

PowerMax has a decent trade-in program, as well. From my experience, though, it usually takes them longer to get the CTO models in. That said, they are really good about how they handle trade-ins.

So you guys with the i7, I'm getting mine in the mail, but I'm curious, how is the battery? I'm replacing my laptop that can handle a DVDrip movie on battery then die (it also dies if anyone touches the battery).

If you're going to be using this as your main computer for years it's best to get the most powerful model you can (which also increases resale value as they are less common) which will make the laptop more future proof. My only concerns are that the extra power will make the machines fans run loud (the current 11" is completely silent 99% of the time) and cause the battery life to be shorter.

Can anyone tell me if the graphic performance difference in the new models compared to the 2010 MBA ultimate is significantly less?

I can't imagine I would be disappointed considering the massive speed increases from 2010 to 2011 but I certainly do not want to be disappointed that now IMovie or FCP or Photoshop are slower / worse than in the 2010 version.

Thanks!

No, I just didn't realize that there wasn't all that much upgraded with the new models. Only three things, really.

...and the 1333MHz RAM if you add that too.

But, I am sure the new i7 model MBA could probably render a video project in about half the time as the previous fastest 2.13GHz Core2Duo model. The i7 Sandy Bridge is a much, much faster chip, I will agree to that, you are talking 3250 vs 6500 in Geekbench (twice the numbers here).

Yes, I am jealous, you are right. I want that light-up keyboard!!!

Bashing the latest Apple product on an Apple forum. What a Genius! I'm being largely sarcastic. BTW, you're a jealous hypocrite.
