Hi,

Just wanna know what laptops u were using pior to the MBA? Any reasons why did you swap the former?

As for me, been using the X31 Thinkpad for 4 years before upgrading. Really loved it as a workhorse, but was looking for a larger screen and keyboard while not having a weight penalty. Also the display was kinda looking really washed out.

The MBA was the perfect choice as I was waiting for a lighter Apple laptop just like the powerbook 12"....

Just like to hear from others as I'm pretty curious on this.....

MacBook Pro 15 inch.

Got the air as it's easier to carry back and fore between home and work every day.

MBP now stays at home and is tethered to a 20 inch Apple display.

14-inch iBook G4.

I had previously been using this computer as a desktop replacement, but then I got an iMac and so wanted my secondary computer to be more portable. The MBA was a perfect choice.

company issued IBM thinkpad t60p with a horrible screen and an incredibly bloated copy of WinXP.

I'm leaving it on my desk as a backup but I'm a road warrior. The IBM will never leave home again.

Macbook SR White.

I don't why my current MBA is snappier than the Macbook. But seriously, I really feel it is snappier...launching of FF3 and Safari, take less than 2 bounce.

I LIKE MY MBA !!!

Sony Vaio UX and before that the Sony Vaio TR.

I must say that OS X is incredibly fast and responsive - I will never buy a Windows PC again (unless Apple buys Microsoft and sells OSX for PCs - which will never happen, too much conflicting hardware).

The good side of the grass.
All mac portables. MB, MBP, lots of PB's. Favorite hands down was 12" PB. Air has been closest thing to it since.

MB BL. too heavy and always looked dirty. MBP too big w. heat of a toaster oven. Still have and use the MBP as a backup.

Like the Air but it's not perfect. No.2 behind 12" PB.

My MBA replaced my PowerBook G4 15".

I used to keep the PowerBook attached to an external widescreen display most of the time. With the MBA, I'm finding that I use it all over the house just due to its weight, size, and gorgeous screen.

The MBA is my "primary" computer.

Prior notebook was a 15" Macbook Pro, which I loved immensely.

I love my MBA even more.

I still keep my MBP on my desk and use it as my "desktop Mac" since I never take it anywhere.

Recently before Air in similar class (simultaneously):
Sony TZ2x series (main ultraportable) in multiple locations, Sony G11, Sony UX390N's inmultiple locations, several Dell XPS M1330's, Sony SZ4x series

After purchase of Air in similar class (simultaneously with Air): Sony TZ2500/2x series (main ultraportable) in multiple locations, Sony UX390N's, UX490N's, Sony SZ7x series, Lenovo X300, Toshiba R500.

Currently reducing to one TZ2500, TZ32VN + spare, one UX390/490 each, two SZ71WN's + 1 spare, and last of all the Air 1.8SSD + spare. I expect the Sony spares to collect dust, while the spare Air will undoubtedly be in regular use as both shuttles back and forth from Applecare.

MacBook Black, 2nd Generation.

that's the mb I have now!
How does the mba compare in terms of responsiveness?

I'm looking to replace this blackbook in aug-sept and am unsure whether to go for a top end macbook with a 7k drive or a MacBook air. I'd like the portability but the mb now isn't too bad. Its that backlit keyboard I'd get most use from I think!

I used to have the Dell E1405 laptop.

Honestly, I kind of miss it, were it not for the weight and the fact it ran Windows. It had 7 hours of battery life (real world, not theoretical), 14" screen, DVD burner, and it looked great too (silver paint with black keyboard, kind of like the MBA!!!).

Dell 700m. Started crashing on me, and gave me the chance to get my first Mac!!! I LOVE the MBA... Best computer I have ever owned. Plus, OSX is so intuitive... I will never go back... :D

17" MacBook Pro, Core 2 Duo (June, 2007)

I'm still using the 17" MBP hooked up to a 23" ACD; the 15" MBP hs really been replaced by my MBA so I will eventually be putting it up for sale....

Also was using a G5 iMac pretty extensively until I got the MBA.

I LOVE this thing! Right now I'm sitting out on my balcony with it, enjoying the fresh air and the ability to keep up with what's going on in my online world....a lot less weight, a lot less hassle in using the MBA than my 15" MBP.

My MBA rocks!!

Interesting to read what people were using before their MBAs, but probably more interesting to hear what they're planning as their next computer; another MBA? another MacNotebook or back to PC hardware??

At this point I don't know what my next Mac will be but I can assure you that whatever it is there will not be a sniff of Windows anywhere near it and that I won't be returning to PC hardware, either. I'm hooked on Macs, the complete package: OS, hardware......
