Hey everybody!

I just switched from a PC to a Mac and I have to say that this really rocks. Macs are so much cooler and are really slick.

I just got the new iBook G4 12.1" and I think I'll never go back to a PC. Just wondering, are there any cool little toys that you guys can point out that our worth messing around with? So far, all I've done is mess around with iPhoto, iCal, surf the net with Safari, and downloaded widgets.

I'm looking forward to becoming a regular poster on the forum.

:D :D

Welcome aznspyder. There are way too many great things about OSX to list here. One of the best part about Macs is the fact that it's intuitive so you can find out cool stuff easily and often. :)

Welcome to the Mac community, you're definitely sure to love it here :) Make sure to take a long look at your system preferences, little things like changing the alert sound and the highlight color can make your iBook feel much more personalized.

As for more fun tools to use, there are a bunch of downloads available at Apple.com Downloads. I would recommend that you set up a gmail account and get some use out of Apple Mail as well.

Welcome!

Try pressing CMD (Apple Key)+Control+Option+8. I'm not going to tell you what it does, but don't worry; it won't do anything harmful.

Thanks

Wow!

You replied much quickly than I thought. I guess I know where to go if I have questions :p

I'm having fun browsing the software section of the Apple website right now and will download a game demo or two to see how the graphics on this baby is.

Macs are indeed something special, I switched a few months ago and have'nt looked back.

Try the good ol' "holding Shift while minimising/maximising windows and widgets, accessing dashboard and expose."

This is my personal favourite - watch any movie in Quicktime and minimise/maximise it while holding shift, looks soooo cool! Shows off the graphical power of Mac OS X nicely.

There may be more but I can't remember at the moment, just experiment and have fun!

Heh

It's kinda funny. I feel like a kid in a candy store when I play around with this iBook. Any of you had this feeling when you got your first Mac?

That's actually a good idea, I should go to the Apple store tomorrow after work and see if there are any goodies there. :D :D :D

Hmm. Were you using the number pad or the normal numbers? (Not sure what else to call them :p) It doesn't work when I use the number pad, either. Also, what OS are you running?

Come on guys what does it do? I'm expecting my 15"PB later today.

Its supposed to help the partially sighted (you'll see what I mean), while at the same time looking way cool!

Let us know when it arrives!

It's not bad here, there is the odd fanatic (though most have been banned) and the odd out spoken PC guy (again most have been banned.) There's plety of useful information in and around the place. enjoy

I spent a whole day with it once, just for kicks.

I should probably get out more... :(

Granted, it does look very cool, but, ironically, I can't have it like that for more than 5 minutes as it starts making my eyes ache! :p

That's exactly why I spent the day on it. Just to see (excuse the pun) if it was possible. I definitely prefer the way it normally looks though. :D

Welcome to the forums,
and congrats on your new iBook.
I didn't see the specs on your iBook but the best investment you can make in addition to the iBook is plenty of memory as OS X loves to eat memory.

Enjoy :D

Welcome to the Mac and the forum. Hope that you will be a regular. Yes, it is very exciting getting a new Mac.

Going to the Apple Store is also like visiting a candy store. A lot of goodies to play with.
