Once you get the hang of where everything goes in your User folders and in your Libraries, OSX is a dream to use.
Everything has it's own place in general and as long as you keep your personal stuff properly organized you're in great shape.
I definitely recommend going through the Mac Starter Guide.
Having plenty of quality RAM also makes a tremendous difference,
but always test run your system "as shipped" before adding anything.
The worst part will be waiting for the UB apps to come around, but then you'll
have one fast sweet machine.
