Enjoy your new iMac. I recently bought the 1 TB fusion drive version of yours and have been very happy. Got it for $1699 as an Apple refurb. Well worth the price.

I've had the machine for a few hours now. I am about to do the Sierra update from El Capitan after my photos are done importing. Amazing machine! It's so refreshing to be excited about a computer instead of getting another Windows machine and knowing exactly what to expect.

I have my 24in Dell monitor hooked up as a second monitor and it's funny, before the iMac, I thought the monitor looked great, clear, etc... but now, side by side with the iMac screen, the iMac puts it to shame!!

The screen is top notch. We were watching The Grand Tour on it last week and it was better than watching it on our 4K LG. The 5K screen is a winner.

My Mid 2010 27" is holding up pretty well but is showing it's age. I am seriously considering whether to wait. The odd thing to me is that there aren't even any rumors about the iMac. Nothing. Zero. That tells me that either it's not close or that it will only be a tweak to the specs at best.
I only want a 21" model (Retina) this time but I want to max out RAM and have a SSD. Even with Broadwell, it should be more than good enough and have some decent life.
few comments on this

First off, the likely aspects to receive an update (whenever there is an update) are GPU, CPU, as well as a change/upgrade in ports. The performance increase will be most dramatic with the GPU upgrade to the current gen AMD chips, and less pronounced with the CPU upgrade to Kaby lake architecture.

It is possible some useful ports may be taken away such as the USB 3.0 port and replaced with USB-C.

I also believe the peformance difference between broadwell and skylake is over exaggerated, there is a difference but not as big as people make it out to be.

The other factor to consider is a change in design.

For these reasons I pulled the trigger on the late '15 in October, and it is more than enough for my uses. Keep in mind we don't even know when the new iMac will be released. It could be summer or later
