I've finally setup my MBA Ultimate and can tell that there is a speed difference from the regular 1.8ghz model. Loving the responsiveness of the device overall.

Did you have a 1.86GHz model before getting the Ultimate? Did the 1.86 have 2GB or 4GB of RAM? In what instances/using what particular applications did you notice a speed difference between the 1.86 and the Ultimate model? I ordered the 1.86/4/128 a couple of days ago and I hope it will not be a let down as speed of opening and loading applications and start up and boot times was one of the main reasons I went with the MBA instead of the MBP. Will appreciate a response from you.

I don't think you would appreciate any difference. Enjoy your Air!

i have the config your asking about, and all i can say regarding speed is that it's in the category of "blink and miss it" :)

It finally arrived this morning! Now all I have to do is get through another 3.5 hours of work to actually mess around with it!

I think you will love it, love it, love it! I have had my 13 inch Ultimate MBA for four and a half months and it has been the best Mac laptop I have ever owned. The MBA does everything my old 17 inch Santa Rosa 2.4GHz MBP with 6GB of RAM did and more. For example, this morning I was using the MBP and started to download the latest software update. I then remembered that I needed to do the same thing on the MBA. Although I didn't start the download on the MBA for several minutes after I had started it on the MBP, the MBA finished the download and rebooted before the MBP finished rebooting. I was impressed.

Finally got it on Friday, and its everything I thought it could be!

So glad I went to the trouble of returning the other one and waiting for this one. It's amazing.

I bought the 11" ultimate. Does that count for anything? ;)

(gave my wife full access to my 15" i7 (2010). No regrets so far).

Just received the 13" inch ultimate and noticed that the bus speed on the 2.13 C2D and ram is 1000 vs 800, this was a nice surprise!

The only 2 drawbacks so far: camera quality could be better and lack of backlit keyboard (you don't know how much you miss it 'til it's gone)

Other than that, if you can afford the $1800 it is the way to go. It is such a little speed demon.

I just bought myself the MBA Ultimate as well. Refurb from the Apple Store. A bday gift to myself. I can't wait. How is the heat on the MBA? Does it get pretty warm?

I'm not sure on the ultimates, but I have the 11in 1.4, only gets warm when I use youtube for a long time or playing HON on high settings. But it handles it like a champ, but does get hot playing games more than anything else.

There's a free app at the Mac App Store called "Typist" which is a typing tutor.
I'm sure if people took the time to better learn what the do every single day of their lives, they wouldn't miss a backlit keyboard. :D

Typing is not the issue! It's hard to hunt for a function key or combo when it's dark.

I've typed in total darkness in my bedroom with screen at half brightness (lighting the keyboard) and you can easily make out the keys but not the letters.

Although, I do miss the backlit keyboard though. But it's not as great a loss as I expected.

I have the 2.13/4 gig/256 13" and I love it. Been using it for a few months and it is the best laptop ever! I just went to the apple store last week and bought the smoked black plastic cover for the top and bottom and it makes this thing so incredibly eye catching. I get questions on this all the time! Everyone enjoy yours!!!! :apple:
