Keep Trying!

I just got it in yesterday, I got to the T-Rex and I think there's a bug with the adrenaline dodge, no matter how hard I try it won't work.

It's funny - People fall into 2 sets here, those that can do the dodge and those that cannot.

I, for one, fall into the latter category. It took me about 40-50 tries - On a PC.

Keep plugging at it and you will get there. Luckily, there aren't too many of those places in the game, but by the end, i could do it almost 1/2 the time.

(And for those software designers who put the AD in the game - I hope I dont meet you in a dark alley....)

I've just downloaded the demo. Is there a way to save the progress you've made in the game? It's a shame that you have to start over from scratch every time you quit the game.

I have it on fairly high settings...I have the same model notebook as you with only 2gb of ram.

Thanks for the tip. I just got round to trying the Mac demo again with your settings (1024x768, AA off) and was able to complete the demo without any freezes.

Freezes might have been cos I had AA on, or was playing it at 800x600, one or the other.

It seems you can't get all 3 cogs in the demo version, am I right?

There is NO bug in the MAC version of TRA when it comes to defeating the T-Rex! I know how frustrating this challenge can be. I even emailed the game developer thinking something might be wrong. But after another hour or so, I figured out the infamous Adrenaline Dodge. Maybe the following would help:

1. Shoot T-Rex until he reaches the rage level and watch for a red halo to appear above him. He usually stops his charge and bellows.

2. The screen should switch to slow motion and direction arrows will appear.

3. Before the slow motion begins, stop shooting, but keep the targeting key down (right mouse button). When the T-Rex bellows, stop Laura's movement for a second or two, then hit the left or right directional key while holding down the left shift key. This will start the adreniline dodge. Time the dodge just before T-Rex is on you and shoot at the same time. You will see the red cross hairs come together and hear a "ding" confirmation of a direct hit. Repeat until dead.

4. The breaktrhough for me was realizing that I had to have the right mouse button down throughout the adrenaline dodge maneuver in order to get it to work. This is not explained in the manual.

Keep trying and be patient, you should eventually get it. It took me over 2 or 3 hours to finally get it.

Good Luck!

P.S. Check out U-Tube for some short videos on the Adrenilne Dodge. Just enter "Adrenaline Dodge" in the search box and you will get some really helpful videos and instructions....

Thanks. I finally figured it out. It took ages, but I beat it. I'm on the colosseum now.

Using PSX Controller with USB adapter on TRA

Is anyone reading this using a similar setup? I have spent the last 2 hours (I bought the game yesterday), trying to set up the controller so I can control the camera with the right analog stick, and move Lara with the left one. A lot of the time the camera spazzes out and just spins round. Could it be that I just need to get a standard USB gamepad, but, any ideas..anyone?

Problem solved

Well I thought i'd been smart and saved some money buying an adapter for my Playstation controller, but after faffing around with different settings and still having problems with controlling the ingame camera I decided to go out and buy a Logitech controller, and it works perfectly, the name of the controller even shows up in the control panel, where as the PS2 one just showed as 'USB controller'.

This is really annoying me. Every time I try to do the dodge she crouches and starts crawling away. :(

Finally figured it out, the apple supplied mouse will not let you shoot and hold the target button when in Manual combat mode. By changing the combat mode to Advance Toggle it always keeps a lock on the T-Rex and lets you dodge!

The thing to remember is to stop shooting when it roars, press the direction, THEN crouch (left shift) to dodge and fire off a single shot when you see the target go red and the bing sound.

Did it first time when I changed the combat mode, how annoying is that?!
