Apple have not killed the yellow tint problem 100%. I just received my 27" i7 today and it had a noticeable yellow tint at the bottom of the screen. Replacement ordered right away - what a waist of resources from both Apple and the consumer this is.

Really, should there be another thread for this? There are several already...this is a good one.

I'm thinking that it was already stocked. I've got a good week 7. A week 9 with yellow tint isn't out of the question, IMO. It's not like there's a 4 week difference between their 'fix' and the receipt of your iMac.

BTW, I think you meant 'waste', not 'waist'.

Quite right on the waist/waste. At least I did not say it was a "waist of there" time:eek:. Forgive me as english is not my first language.

S'ok. I used to teach conversational English and am familiar with the translation difficulties. Good one on the 'there' comment...hahaha!

I had already given up days ago responding to posts like this but I have to ask, why would you order a replacement? You said it yourself that Apple have NOT killed the tint problem 100%. Dude, understand something, and sorry for the shouting, "YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET A REPLACEMENT THAT LOOKS ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE YOU SENT BACK".

How many threads do we have about people getting replacement iMacs, replacement screens, repairs and nothing is different. I'll bet any money yours looks pretty damn good but you are allowing this forum to dictate the fate of your happiness with your iMac purchase. You can disagree with this all you want but I can also bet that you would NEVER have noticed the tint on your iMac had you never read anything about it on the web, especially coming here, just saying.

any chance you can post a picture?

not a screen shot, a real picture of your screen?

I am just curious how week 9's look and if it's "acceptable" or a product of too much forum reading...

well put this forum has really made a mountain out of this. my screen is awesome. for the price the imac is a steal. i will however say the screen doesn't compare to my pioneer plasma in black levels not even for a second. but then again that was a 7k set. and this is a 2k imac. is the color perfect no. is there a yellow tinge yes. would i have noticed mine if i didn't come on here no. i have my plasmas calibrated from avical in ny so i have a pretty good eye for these things. i just really beleive that for 1699 for the base 27" you can't go wrong. i mean come on a 27" ips screen is around 1000-1200 alone with out the computer in it. packed into such a small form factor. i know my 27" in my home office mounted on my wall will be there for years to come and i smile every time i get to use it!

i just got my week 9 this morning, 27 i7, didnt wanna do the test...the splash screen when i booted it looked fine and uniform. of course i ended up doing the test and there is a super slight warmth at the bottom of the screen, so slight that i questioned myself that maybe from reading into it sooo much that my eyes might almost wanna see it. i have 2 weeks, ill see how it goes.

what is the wait time for the replacement ? can u hold on to your imac one with the problem , before u received the replacement ...

Dude, you need to understand something too: APPLE HAS CLAIMED THAT THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM, THAT IS WHY PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHETHER IT IS TRUE OR APPLE LIED TO THEM.

I don't know what I will receive and neither do you. A large percentage of the iMacs don't have this problem and I am hoping to get one of them. In other words the product I paid for.

I might not have noticed, but I can not change reality. I DID notice and I WOULD keep kicking myself for not exchanging the machine before I transfer my whole life to the HD.

I understand there is a lot of talk about the iMac and the yellow tints these days. If you do not want to participate please just skip. It is a very real problem for those of us getting these machines.

Apple has NOT fixed the yellow tint

Apple has given consumers an ultimatum.

Keep it or return it. Period.

They will allow ONE screen replacement.

If you don't like it, return it for a refund.

Apple is NOT going to fix this issue. These are defective monitors. They ALL have yellow blemishes in them. It is what it is. Apples specs allow this.

Know that if you order an iMac it will most likely have yellowing. You either live with it or return it. That is what Apple has essentially stated.

Buyer beware.

Yes I can hold on to the machine until I get a new one. The new machine will be shipped with the fastest option and it also has priority over normal orders. Furthermore it will undergo manual screen check before shipment. Take this with a grain of salt - that is what I was told by Apple.

I had a week 5 27" that had pretty bad with yellow at the bottom right corner (along with a another issue unrelated to the screen).

When I asked if I could hold onto my current machine while the replacement was ordered (I was quoted another 3 week wait at the time), they said that was not possible.

I then asked if I could put an order for another machine, but get permission to return the original for a full refund when the new one finally arrived, but they refused. I was told that I MAY have to pay a restocking fee. Since I couldn't get an absolute answer I wasn't going to tempt fate. (I have already done that enough lately)

I did receive my replacement late last week. It has slight yellow tinge toward bottom and center, and a little banding issue toward the bottom.

So now, I too am debating whether this is worth the hassle. Maybe we should just accept this as the quality of this product? If it is unacceptable, return it and get something else, if not keep it and live with it.

I am going to sit on it a few more days. At least by then the supposed fix may be through the production chain.

wow thats pretty rude of them ..can they do that really ???? how can they get away with it.... i thought apple was rates number 3 this year in USA for customer satisfaction ... !

I think this should be taken with a pound of salt....

We returned a 27" (week 09) iMac yesterday that had supposedly been checked.....
I think they checked to make sure that it was yellower than the previous week 7 that we had also returned...

We finally got one that is acceptable..... not perfect..... acceptable.... we got free Apple Care.... looking forward to having this one replaced or repaired.... now that we have Apple Care, I can wait (or Waite) for Apple.

That is a disgusting and disgraceful position to take for any tech company. I don't know about US consumer laws, but in the UK and in most European countries, generally speaking, a product has to be fit for its purpose, unless stated otherwise. I cannot see, how a 27" computer, often used for graphic design can be fit for purpose if it has yellow colouring.

That is the problem with Apple hardware. You expect something matching the hype, something matching the design and the packaging; something that matches the price and often you get absolutely horrible quality issues, like this one. Or cracking plastic. Or fragile hinges. Or overheating. Or CPU-whine. Or noisy fans, constantly spinning... I've had a few more...

Oh yeah?? Show me the link to where Apple has made this claim, verbatim?

Dude, or not dude, EVENTUALLY HE WILL GET A GOOD ONE.
