Just Surveying; Do most of u get your MBA with the superdrive?

I'll get the USB -> Ethernet for $20 to use disc sharing before I'll buy the external drive. I used it once to reinstall the OS (to remove all the stuff I wouldn't use like printer drivers and such) and once to install iLife (for some reason iPhoto wouldn't install from the restore discs). Otherwise I've not needed the remote drive and wireless has worked fine for those two instances.

i got one! and the fact that i have to carry it with my macbook air around plus a time capsule makes me wanna get a macbook pro instead.

If you have to do the things that you mentioned every time or most of the time, I don't think the macbook air was right for you
