if these guys are so smart, why did they not make an installer or an .app file with all the plug-ins included?

KaZzA is not worth this much hassle anyway...

I think they are just writing 'gift' for linux, and run it under darwin.

the 'poisoned' is the actual osx frontend.

An interesting idea would be running poisoned on a mac, controlling the 'gift' daemon on some linux server, silintly serving in some closet, featureing no monitor etc.
As I have such a server... interesting ;)

I use either Acquisition or Neo.
LimeWire and Kazaa netorks respectively.
Already compiled.

XP -> darkside

I sense much XP in you,
XP leads to Blue Screen.
Blue Screen leads to downtime,
downtime leads to suffering.
XP is the path to the darkside.

Good God man! I... I may have already started down the dark path! I've already given in to XP... and I've had the blue screen... and then had the down time... and had much suffering... AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nah.

Had blue screens in OS X too, so I'm okay. Wait... unless OS X is XP in disguise?!?

NNNOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!

What is thy bidding oh Gateslord?

I suck as compiling, I get as far as the 'make' command and then it says there is nothing to make... wtf.

p2p I usually download foriegn songs that would cost $20 in shipping for one albulm (it has gotten higher). Or I download apps which I'm forced to use. (I.E. Windows OSes)

BTW, is there an iTunes script to make Winamp styled playlists?

It's really here this time, no spam, no false sites. This is it. I can use the FastTrack network on my mac. It's hard to install but it's worth it.

Instructions on gottsilla.net/forums

Is it really worth it?

I'd joined iSareit or whatever it is, paid a small annual subscription, about the costs of a CD, download Limewire for OSX and you're good to go.

I couldn't ever be bothered with all that friggin around. But that's just me.

Suggestion

You can greatly simplify the process if you just install it from Fink (since the directions require Fink anyway). I did, and it's running fine for me :)

I couldn't find the package to install it in fink, so i spent 3 hours figuring out how to instal and set it up properly, but now that i got it working (of course, the fasttack plugin can't be installed now cause that server is down) i've gotten some of the other people with macs in the dorm to download the source and guided them through the installation...and its working great!!

Agreed, spend the 15 bucks.

You know that some folks make money from acutual music sales?
Not just millionaire artists, but not so millionaires songwriters, publishers, producers, and engineers all make points on record sales.

take care

i used giFT for some time on my Linux system. in my opinion, it was simple to compile the core and the gui. and i was able to find quite a bit of music i was looking for. but some people get the impression that it really connects to the FastTrack network. it doesn't. as another user pointed out, open-source clients are blocked from FastTrack. giFT uses it's own network.
