It's a beta. Stuff won't work right. If you rely on your device heavily and need stability, DO NOT INSTALL THE BETA! The beta will kill your battery. Your phone will have performance issues. Your phone may heat up. Apps may not work or load at all.

You can’t on your own you need to take it to apple to have then dowgrade it

that the risk you take when you install a beta that you can’t uninstall it your self

Ummm. I don't have a developer account but it's letting me download it to my 14PM! I'm guessing it'll let me download it, but throw up an error message at some point when trying to install it - i.e 'you're not a developer' please ***** off!

No, you don't need to be a DEV. You just need to be aware that it's not for everyone.
I am fine with overheating, shorter battery life, bugs, occasional hiccups and possibly reboots.
If you know what you're doing, you don't need to be a "DEV".

I’ve been running the betas for years. Yes, there will be bugs and glitches, but since around ios13, I’ve found it stable enough to run on my main device. That may not be the case for everyone, but it’s generally been good, and the minor bugs are worth it for me personally.

OP you're wasting your breath, or your keyboard types. Every year at least 5 or 6 people start a thread with this warning and it doesn't make a difference... People are still going to complain.

No it won’t. I have the same options but have never been a developer.

It has always been possible to roll back a major version by connecting to a Mac and putting the phone in Recovery Mode or DFU Mode.

Are you saying this is not true for iOS 17?

Having an extra iPhone for playing around with beta is fun.

Beta on a primary iPhone is a no-no.

Just saying....

Grrrr... but it's so tempting! I simply cannot wait for lockscreen customization.

Maybe I'll testdrive it on my older mini 5, and if results are good then I'll consider giving my main device a pass (with a backup, of course). It would probably shred the mini's battery life, but I don't really use it anymore, and the battery only hits at most 4 hours now, so... no great loss.

Also, no you don't need to be a dev to get it. It's intended for devs to adapt to new versions with a headstart, but it's just as easily used as a paid ticket to test a version extra-early. As long as you pay the cash, Apple will look the other way and let you in. (But now, no cash needed.)

To be fair, he made that post about needing to be a dev before it was known it was open to everyone.
