Keep S6 Edge Or?

Should I keep my S6 Edge or return my phone and get an iPhone 6+ 16gb? I like the Edge design, but the fingerprint scanner is inaccurate, the wifi calling glitch destroys battery life, and the phone doesn't handle heat too well. I am thinking about the 6+, but idk if managing 16 gb is feasible. I think I might get antzy and buy the 6S+ too. I like the S6 Edge with its processor, camera, screen, and software when it works. I don't know what to do?

You can't go wrong with the 6+. It's a great phone. I would get more than 16GB though. That might fill up pretty fast.

You probably arent doing the fingerprint sxcanner right. Mine works great. I made two right thumb prints. One straight on it, the other more sideways so i have a couple ways for it to read. Works flawlessly.

As for which on ou kep, ...i dont care which you keep. Keep the one that fits your wants and needs.

I had my Edge for the weekend but it's going today.

Stunning phone but there are a couple of things I'm not sure about, so may revisit it in a few months once it's gone down in price.

I have an Edge and a 6+ the edge is going back today. It would have been gone yesterday but thats a different story. Couple things on the edge. The finger scanner worked perfect. It was as good as the iPhone. The battery life was terrible when compared to the 6+. It would drop 10% in the first few hours. So when I left work it would be like 64% and my 6+ would be like 88%. The edge processor is great but do you really need 8 cores? for what? The edge lighting up with notifications is cool but after a day I didn't care. The Edge screen is small compared to the 6+ but it fits in you pocket and its easier to hold. One thing I don't like about android is how every icon looks different, some are square, some are round, and they are all different sizes (its a mess). So it forces you to install a launcher and a theme to make it look good.

Also for Rooters Samsung once again included "knox" so if you root it gets tripped in the bootloader. This can void your warranty. I believe at the moment only the T-Mobile version comes with a unlocked bootloader (I thought android was open guess not) :/ .

So to conclude the Edge is a good looking device. It feels great in you hand and the display is beautiful. Overall the battery life isn't great and its over powered for a mobile device. Android of course has more options but you will spend some time finding a new launcher and theme to really make the device look good. Comes with a lot of bloatware so be prepared to spend some time disabling all the extras. If you like iOS then the iPhone 6 is very comparable. If you want something a little bigger with great battery then its the 6+. Remember too iOS devices get updates all at the same time not when the manufacture gets around too it. I feel this has some value.

I have the S6 Edge too but the battery does not last as long as my Note 4 or 6+. Both of those phones are phablets with bigger batteries. Agree with you on IOS having better stand by times as far as battery life goes.
You can root and unlock the boot loader on some samsung phones from T-Mobile or the international version. But as a whole if you want to root and flash roms....Samsung phones are probably not for you. Agree on the carrier bloat...hate it. I wish we could still get GPE versions of flagship phones.

Well, here's the thing. The phones I used prior to the S6 Edge were the Note 4 and iPhone 5C. I use my 5C for GPS mainly since it destroys the battery life on the S6E with GPS. My problem with iOS is that it's harder to get free music to and from the device since Android has apps on the Play Store. That part is significant into Android usage. iOS itself is quite nifty, especially with the power of iMessage and Notification Widgets. However, Touchwiz has the same message reply system on Android since you can reply to SMS on any screen, but it doesn't work as a proprietary app like iMessage, but What's App is there for sure. I have bad signal, so my battery will drain more than others. The 6+ feels really expensive, especially if I want to keep an expensive phone long term since it will feel obsolete to me once it gets 2 GB of RAM because the power of the device and how it manages memory will be unlike any previous iPhone.

I don't like the HTC One M9 either. The 6+ looks very nice, but I fee like 16 GB might be too little to handle? I will be required to pay up a $50 restocking fee too. Which device is more future proof? Is it hardware with the S6 E or software with iOS on the iPhone? My needs involve being able to play music in car rides, have power extending modes to get the most of my battery, using a fingerprint scanner to protect my device since all my last few Samsungs have had that feature, I want something similar to Apple Pay, I love cameras with good quality and software, having a clean UI is important as well. The Edge is so damn nice, it's just the bugs don't want to play so nice.

Do what you want to do. Would you ideally prefer to have the iPhone + iOS or stay with Android and live with the issues you've been having with the S6 Edge?

64GB iPhone 6 Plus is the best overall device choice in my opinion. The edge is dope, but the battery is garbage and it's priced as high as the 6 Plus.

Side note, if Samsung could have added another 1-2 hours of screen on time I probably would have kept my edge. Putting in a 2600 mAh battery to power a phone with a quadHD display and 8-core processor was just not a wise decision on Samsung's part.

You have to want to carry around a rather large device and many people don't.

I certainly don't. That's the reason I sold my Note 4 and got an S6.

I had a Note 4 as well, but I used my 5C as a MP3 player, phone, and GPS device typically. The 6+ 64 GB is hard to find for $750 brand new, no? I spent $780 for the S6 Edge with T-Mobile, but they would give me a nice $50 restocking fee if I were to ask for a refund or swap to another device. I think I am going to keep the Edge and use a quick charger in the car.

I own both an iPhone and S6 Edge, so best of both worlds, but the iPhone isn't cost effective now, so I think I will keep the S6 Edge.

The 6 Plus is too large to be put in that category. The best overall phone my actually be the Xperia, but it's limited in availability. I would probably put the iPhone 6 and GS6 as the best overall phones right now, as they have very few weaknesses, battery is probably where their weakest but still give enough juice to where most people should be able to get through a day.

Now that time has passed, I am decided to reconsider the S6 Edge. I like the phone still for the most part except for battery life and a bit of a few android technicalities. Like it takes longer to send mms with my S6 Edge than my iPhone 5C. I am highly considering to sell the S6 Edge, but idk how much I will get back for it. I paid $780+ tax for it. The 6+ brand new is $750+ tax or I would have to buy a 64 GB second hand. What's the best way I am sure about iOS? Use my iPhone for about a week and decide?

I use quick charge only at night. I have a car charger, but it's meant to be used for my bluetooth speaker, which was defective, so I gotta get a new one.

They also have Quick Charge car chargers. Amazon has a few and they are all inexpensive.

If you're at a desk at work, I would also look into wireless charging. It's painless, surprisingly quick, and most importantly, keeps topping off your battery without any thought or energy required by you. Just put it down, as you would put down your device on a desk anyway. That might help you get through your day.

It works well, charges surprisingly fast, and because it's a stand, is still very usable while it's on the charger, though it's not like it's difficult to lift it up and put it back down when done. Don't ever have to worry about it so you can just dive right into work. Plus, I think it looks quite nice on an office desk!

However my M9 will arrive tomorrow and I will be deciding on whether I keep the edge after I've used the M9 daily for a week. The edge is a delight aesthetically, but once passed aesthetics the experience of the software has been disappointing.

Ram management and app refreshes are annoying me more so than on any Samsung device before it. Can't leave an app and answer a call, send a text, go back to the app and it's forced to refresh. Seriously side by side with my 6+, the 6+ is out gunning it background app performance wise with less refreshing. Which is insane in a 1gb device to a 3gb device.

I've not been able to get the battery life others have. Indeed I'm getting worse battery& SOT than the original Moto X 2013.

The phone has choked a few times under load (applying a theme will grind the device to much of a halt).

And as for using exynos because of heat compared to Snapdragon, well my Edge gets very noticeably warm at times.

The camera is awesome, the phone looks and feels great - but the software experience whilst in many ways is improved - in others has ruined the joy of using the handset.

Samsung has acknowledged the RAM issue and will be releasing updates to address it.

It is weird how many of us have had a different experience with this phone. I am getting great battery life 4 to 5 hours SOT. I have not had the app refresh issues you listed. I can open Tapatalk and start to reply to a post then leave Tapatalk to copy and paste a URL and not have app refreshes.
I was writing an email and received an text notification and left the email to reply to the text then return to the unfinished email without an app refresh.
I did sell my Edge and get the regular S6 because of false touches on the edges of the glass. That annoyed me to no end a case would have resolved the issue but I hate cases.
I do find that IOS is more optimized to run on less resources than Android on a Samsung phone. So that of course means TW and we all know it is not the most slim of Android skins. It is better than ever but needs to improve even more.
