Nice setup! I would consider if I didn't want the quad core so much!

Edit: And damn Hulu, doesn't work in canada, and they fixed the VPN trick :(

Thats the first lcd screen i really like ,never thought i would say that in the same sentence with a lcd screen and if i look on the price tag
i guess i order one too
just one thing to make it perfect ..does the mini fit under it .....i can see it does not n the middle where the stand is ,but would it fit right or left from the stand under the screen
....just looked they even do a 20 inch a 21.5 inch and a 23 inch too ,all the same design
they look great
how is the sound from the build in speakers

If I was only going for 1920 x 1080 resolution I would have gotten a smaller screen, since your going to be sitting so close to it, but I'm glad your happy with your choice.

Any problems with 1080p content from youtube or BR rips?

Looks great!! I have a similar HP monitor (a bit smaller, 24") and I love it.

Is the base plastic or aluminum? The one on mine looks similar to yours, although it is plastic and not aluminum :(

What do you like about it other than size and price tag? 27" at 1080p resolution makes for a fine TV, but a lousy computer screen. This screen also uses older TN panel technology (vs LED panels that Apple uses), with all the usual LCD limitations of angular views etc.

It just amazes me how all that people look at is a sheer size and price.. but don't bother looking at anything else spec-wise.. and think they're getting some kind of a special deal..

looks like it works for you. if you don't need super specs, it doesn't really matter.

now you have cash for other things.

Nice setup - looks perfect for your description of what you were looking for. It's nice to be able to "break up" your gear and use it for different purposes later.

first i sit in front of the screen not in a angle .... second neither of the two can match the picture quality of my LaCie Electron 22 blue IV , but its a big black blue greyisch crt box ,

i like the design ,speakers build in but not visible , looks as close as possible by law , to the real cinema display and the price is right , i have seen it in real ,close to a cinema display from apple , and i cant spot a huge difference in picture quality , both played the same advert at the time for some game

sorry not everyone can spend 635 pound on a new screen there are still people out there like me who have to work for a living and are happy if they can safe up enough for a used mini G4 :(

That's all good, but I wouldn't call it "savings".. as if somehow you got a similar system as 27" iMac for much lower price. Your setup (particularly screen / video aspects of it) is substantially lower end as compared to 27" iMac.

If your HP 2709m + Mini system serves your needs - great, but in the end you got what you paid for. ;)

I agree completely. The only thing the HP 2709m shares in common with the display on the 27" iMac is the size of the screen. There is no comparison in terms of image quality. The HP2709 uses a common TN panel (Apple finally stopped using TN altogether with this iMac revision) while the iMacs are LED-backlit H-IPS screens.

I'm glad the OP is happy with his computer but you really can't call it a 27-inch iMac for $700 off.
