Tell them to stop wasting your time and replace the video cards already (and reimburse you for the RAM you just purchased).
I completely agree. If the RAM you had in there was the factory installed RAM then there is almost no chance it’s the RAM.

For those of you interested in following this thread onwards:
- Changed RAM - still got crashes
- Apple asked me to run OS from clean install on external drive - still got crashes
- Apple asked me to make a new partition on the internal drive and install High Sierra on that partition - got crashes during install and was not able to install High Sierra on that partition
- Support then sent all this info back to Apple´s engineering department and by their advice, the computer has now been delivered to the reseller for GPU replacement. I have not yet been able to 100% confirm that Apple will cover the cost and expect a two week delivery time for the replacement...will keep you posted.

It sounds like they will cover the cost. In my own experience, Apple never perform any hardware fix without telling me the cost in advance (if any).

Just picked up the machine today after GPU replacement overed by Apple. Just one hour into testing and pushing the GPUs, but early testing looks like problem solved. Will post again if things change. Thanks a lot for your input and assistance.

Ok...new GPUs didn´t help (see crash report below). Apple now wants me to do a clean install on the internal hard drive - AGAIN! - to see if the issue can be reproduced without any third party apps installed what so ever. I am getting increasingly more frustrated here....any ideas?

Ok...new GPUs didn´t help (see crash report below). Apple now wants me to do a clean install on the internal hard drive - AGAIN! - to see if the issue can be reproduced without any third party apps installed what so ever. I am getting increasingly more frustrated here....any ideas?
I would have bet money on the GPUs. From what I recall you've tried all the troubleshooting steps I would recommend. At this point the only thing left is to try swapping parts, parts which you're unlikely to have. Since this system is out of warranty my recommendation is to work with Apple and follow their advice. Doing so may lead them to fix it at no cost to you.

Good luck.

With all peripherals disconnected apart from keyboard, mouse and monitor I am getting panics during install. Installation process stops with an estimate of 24 minutes left, the Mac reboots, gives me the «your computer restarted...» message and restarts the install. After several failed attempts it gave me the attached error report.
Hardware test does not find any errors and install from external install disk yields same results (installation stops at approx 24 minutes left).
Ideas?

I'm not sure there is much left that you can do. The only things I can think of is to pull the CPU and SSD to inspect, clean, and reseat. If you have spares of each you could try installing the spares.

Are you still working with Apple on this issue?

Yes, I am still working with Apple. Finally got to installing Mavericks through internet recovery and have successfully managed to upgrade the install to High Sierra. Fingers crossed, but I am not optimistic here. Testing now...

I would take direction from them. From what I can tell there's little you can do so follow their directions and, hopefully, they'll repair it at no cost.

Could it be that your SSD is acting up because of thermal problems ? (or the PCI - RAID)
I have read elsewhere, that this problem can occur when SSDs get too hot, some flash-chips partially fail and can cause a crash.

Might be. I am still getting kernel panics and I am completely at loss here. Bringing the Mac back to the authorized reseller on Monday, hopefully they should be able to figure it out this time around...

At this point I'm 100% sure you have bum hardware of some kind.

I feel bad for you to have these problems, but at least everyone is still working with you outside of warranty.

Ok, after a lot of back and forth with Apple, the repair shop took the machine back in. They replaced the motherboard, input-output board AND the CPU board for the total cost of 0. Which means I now have a more or less spanking new computer. The kernel panics are gone and I am once again a happy customer.

Congratulations! I've heard many stories of Apple repairing out of warranty systems at no cost. This is the reason why Apple consistently receives top marks for customer service.

Congrats! And thanks for the update. Well done for persevering and getting Apple to do the right thing.

ladies and gentlemen, this is why you need warranty. Why don't you get yourself cMP 2010-12 model?

Aside from the video card issue, which Apple already replaced for free, what other known problems are plaguing the nMP?
There are quite few reports that multiple GPU replacements have failed to fix the issue. (Whether the replacement GPUs are faulty, or whether there are other issues, is not known.)

Both of mine prefer to vomit on my desk chair instead.
Let's keep hurling kittens in the other thread.... ;)

[doublepost=1546992982][/doublepost]So, did this finally fix all of your issues? I have been plagued with 2013 Mac Pro kernel panics for a long time staring in 2016. Apple replaced, at their expense, the graphics cards and the logic board two times and nothing ever changed. I just learned to live with tried to avid things that would start kernel panics. But I can't even run iTunes or it will cause a kernel panic. I can run Lightroom and Photoshop which but even importing too many photos form compact flash cards can cause a panic. That's because when Photos auto-launches, if I don't quit it fast enough it will cause the kernel panic/ crash/ restart. I am finally fed up with it though and was going o take it back in and demand a new machine.
