They are plastic (on the MBP at least)... They're transparent plastic painted with silver paint, leaving the letter unpainted so that light can shine through.
Well, no transparent letters on the 12" PB since no backlit keyboard, but I do suspect they are plastic.

Anyhow, I'm going to order some iKlear (or Klear Screen - seems like the same stuff anyway, but different packaging!) and see how it works.

I stopped at the local Walmart vision center and picked up there cleaner and microfiber cloth for under $5. It is the same stuff as IClear, no alcohol, does a great job.

I will be swinging by my local walmart to see if I Can grab these two things today.

My new 2.16ghz macbook pro just arrived today so I need to make my old 1.5ghz PowerBook G4 nice and shiny for ebay. No problem using the wal-mart cleaner and microfiber cloth on both the screen and casing right? any instructions/recommendations?

The Shaggymac Prime Pac has everything you need to keep a Macbook or Powerbook flawless.

The Grubby sticks really deep clean keyboard grime.

OK, so this sounds like a dumb question.

What is the best way to clean a PowerBook keyboard?

I'm not talking about gunk under/in between the keys, but rather the surface of the keys themselves.

I find that after almost a year of heavy use, the oils from my fingers have made a lot of the keys (especially the right side of the spacebar where I hit it with my right thumb) a bit greasy. This kind of annoys me and I would like to clean them off.

I tried a damp paper towel but this did not do much... And I'm a bit afraid to use anything else.

Surely there is something safe that will work? Alcohol?

i just used a paper towel, with some really watered down dishwashing solution (really really watered down), squeezed all the water out until it was just damp and went over the keyboards, using another dry paper towel to dry it as soon as i went over it, being careful not to let ANY water drip into the crevices...worked fine on my black book.

Might be best to keep the laptop upside down then while doing this? It'll require some creative holding, but at least there will be no fear of water slipping down there.

I posted a few posts back about needing to clean by Powerbook G4 to get it ready for ebay. I definitely need to do it soon, its just sitting there collecting dust now that I Got my new macbook pro (and losing value - I think).

I recommend looking into the Invisible Shield web site: www.invisibleshield.com. They have this great plastic material to put over where your wrists rest on the keyboard, and it's guaranteed for life!

I just picked this up a couple weeks back at walmart. Can I use this all over my 15" aluminum 1.5ghz powerbook G4? screen, keyboard, casing?

Thought I'd ask this again.. I bought the walmart cleaner a while ago but never got around to cleaning the 15" 1.5ghz powerbook that I wanted to sell. Now I'm going to clean it and sell it, as well as my wife's old white iBook.

I'd also like to clean my 15" 2.16ghz MacBook pro too. So, w/ this Walmart cleaner, I can do everything right? screen, keyboard, casing?
