personally, I prefer the clicks from the ipod touch 1G. The clicks from the piezo speaker are much more subtle than on a real speaker.

Same... I actually thought about getting that sound on the iPhone. I believe it's possible, I just didn't care enough to find it.

So just use it when you have to dial in a private area?

Spaz, I realize you may be trying to help, but I've had my iPhone long enough to know how everything works and to have experimented with various settings. Despite knowing all about the mute switch, I still find the dial tones annoying. I wish to have them off all the time, even when my phone is not muted. You like your pixels right, I like my mute button off without hearing annoying tones when dialing. Let's leave each other alone.

Umm... I wasn't picking on you. I didn't know you strongly disliked the dial tones on the dial pad.

I guess I never hear them anyways because I never have to dial any numbers.

Edit: If you're jailbroken, you could just delete or rename the dial sound. It's most likely in System/Library/Audio/UISounds

I was waiting to get my haircut and this guy was also waiting and using his iPhone, his clicks were so loud it drove me insane; not to mention he typed very slow.

I like that the clicks are quieter now.

Although it annoys me that now when you send a message and start typing a new one, the volume gets really loud (clicks included) when the message sent noise plays. But i'm probably just looking for something new to b!tch about.

I frankly don't give a flying ****. I'm not going to sit with a stop watch and time the speed. I use my phone, and it works as expected. Any miniscule difference in speed doesn't matter to me one bit :)

noob... get a myTouch by HTC and then say that speed doesn't matter. The iPhone's speed and UI trumps all, so just try and appreciate the innovation that is iPhone/iPod.

I love it when my brother has the clicks "on" and his iPhone lags (it's on 3.1 so that's understandable) and he types out a sentence and it goes "Brrrrrrrrrrrr" all at once. Haha!

LMAO! My 1g iPod Touch used to do that! POS...

There's nothing more annoying then being next to someone in public and they have they're clicking sounds turned on. If this person is you, here is a statement for you:

"Cool, you have an iPhone. Nobody else cares. Keep it to yourself."
