I use that original tissue paper for as long as possible, and also keep a supply of regular white tissue paper I cut in the same dimensions to replace it. It's cheap, easy and it works. If you've got access to a paper cutter, even better.

Ok, package just arrived from Amazon. You get two protectors for the $10. Guess one is for cleaning.

The microfiber cloth is super slick feeling, almost like silk. It is also about a thick as maybe 2 pieces of notebook paper, way thinner than the foam pad that comes between the keyboard and screen from the factory. Folded where you have 4 thicknesses and compared to the foam, the foam is still thicker. No way it would transfer prints to the screen that I could see.

I will try using it, it can’t hurt! I agree with barkomatic and do not think this whole thing is anything to lose sleep over. My MBP 16 is carried in a sleeve with nothing ever sitting on top of it.
I have a 14" MBP and I can confirm this works like a charm. I always clean the keyboard with a dry microcloth before placing the GhostBlanket over it. No issues so far...

I have had no marks on my screen and have been packing my 16 in a suitcase multiple times now. I doubt the cloth is the only factor but it makes me feel a bit better.

In that case, if there's "pressure from other stuff" against the MacBook, then you may very well get "key marks" on the screen (if "the pressure" is forceful enough against the MBP).

The paper might help.
But I'd look for some other way to carry the MBP that DOESN'T "put pressure to bear upon it"...

Late to the party but,

I have Macbook pro M1 pro 16”.
And can confirm centre row of keys leaving prints on screen and also very small not removable indents. No particles to be seen or found on my keyboard.

Do carry the Macbook a lot in bag but without anything to push on it. Maby just my body when carrying the bag, but thats it.

So the slightest pressure is enough to make the in print. The Macbook pro has to be treated like a princes and doesnt deserve the pro title imo. It kinda ridiculous to be honest.
Never had any laptop do this to a screen before and carrying laptops for over two decades all around the globe.

I had permanent mark on my mb14 and had my screen replaced by warranty, after 1 week I just realized that the mark came back but this time it wasn't permanent, I thought I'm the only one that came across this problem.
I think I will use the thin paper that comes from the factory first, is using screen protector will help?

Yes, it does help. Even with my screen protector on, I already see some keyboard marks.

I owned a 3 Macbook Pros and I got the same issue...Looks like your keys have left a ghost imprint onto the screen. Unfortunately, It's a design flaw. The screen doesn't have enough clearance, is in contact with the keyboard when closed, and gets marked. Over time the key marks may became permanent, as sweat, debris, oils, etc on my hands would have degraded the screen coating over time. Here is the protector I have.
For a $3000+ laptop Apple should of fixed this flaw by now!?

This is by no means something new. All my Macbooks had this issue. My 2011 Air had it. My 2015 Pro had it. My 2018 Pro had it. And now my 2021 14" has it. That's the price we pay for thinness.
The only "solution", if you can call it that, is to put a sheet of tissue, like the one it was supplied with, or some other kind of protector, on the keyboard each and every time you close the lid. But I can't be bothered to do that. I'd rather live with the ghost imprints and just clean them from time to time.

This is part of why I prefer a messenger bag over a backpack. Some backpacks tend to curve with your back, so it's not hard to imagine some bending stress on your MacBook. A messenger bag at least hangs on your body instead. Sure you can fit less into it and it looks a bit like a big purse, but it has some positives.

The problem doesn't have anything to do with the type of bag you use or how you carry the laptop. I have to remove these stubborn marks every other day and there is ABSOLUTELY no way I could have been gentler with this 2021 14". It's never been in a bag. I close it gently and put it on a chair beside my bed with two hands when finished. This is my third Apple with this problem ( a 2018, 2020 before my current).

Get a screen protector. They got the soft/hard glass type on Amazon

A screen protector won't do anything to solve the problem. It will keep the screen clean, but it will get itself dirty. So instead of looking at a screen full of prints, you'll be looking at a protector full of prints. Same thing.
Having to wipe the screen frequently is a problem, in- and of itself -- e.g., scratching from the cleaning instrument, removal of oleophobic? coating. I'd much rather wipe a covered screen frequently than wipe an uncovered one frequently.

Yes, for me a screen protector is a lot easier to clean also to avoid any future staingate.
