what the hell is your problem dude the OP never claimed this was a universal issueha, brilliant. an apple service guy told you this. 30%. he got this number from? a panicked meeting at apple? an interoffice memo? and if the number was really this high, why is this not a major tech news story? IF he really told you that, that still doesn't make it fact. and facts are far more valuable than speculation, rumors, or guesses.... etc.
