Probably! I'll look into returning them. I just wondered about the heatsinks - the server pulls are flat, and the "Mac" heatsinks for the MP are bulky, is all.

Looks like eBay definitely has some cheaper options than the KomputerBay sets, around £55-70 so I'll look for a set :) Thanks!

As I understood from @nigeb the 667 MHz dont' need those BIG heatsinks, they are pulled straight from servers! My bro never complained about overheated DIMM modules!

Great that you're able to return the KB's, perhaps you could hold on to them until your Ebay purchase arrives and you can swap them, because the show must go on! ;)

Cheers

Thanks! Been lurking for a long time, finally joined up. Will definitely join in more discussion :)

Thank you. Yeah, I guess I fell for the price and availability on these when I got them. Should've researched in the forums first! I assume you put your own heatsinks for the Mac Pro on those Kingston pulls from eBay? (first link)
The heat sinks on them are perfectly adequate. The 667MHz parts run cooler than 800MHz.

Thanks all. The KBs were returned without issue at the end of the year. Ended up with a different 16GB kit from eBay. No heat issues :)

Is there a section on the forums to list accessories/old parts for trade/sale? I can't find anything. I have my original 4x1GB (4GB) RAM 800MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM modules available if anyone is interested. Thanks!
