Looks-wise Kutcher would work for 30% of the movie. Christian Bale has that whole yell everything stage of acting.

Bale could keep the physique going. Start out with weight and everyone knows he can slim up a lot.

Please no! Not now not NEVER!
I like him in Butterfly Effect he's funny on That 70's Show but Never as Job's.
Why would you do that to him and his family?

Well, it's not up to me. I just thought it funny they kinda look alike. Don't shoot me, I'm just the messenger. :D

Oh, yeah - BALE! At least he's a serious dramatic actor.

Biopics are difficult though.... they need someone that can span about 30 years. At least we know Bale can lose some weight for the later years... though I wonder if he'd want to do that a third time.

And Bale can go from playful to a son of a bitch on a dime.

I think it would be more important to get an actor that can accurately capture the essence of Jobs and let the make-up team deal with appearances.

I definitely think Kutcher would be a terrible choice, as an actor he's not memorable.

I think people here are way too judgmental, with little to no experience with the acting world. That being said, I don't have a problem with Ashton's acting ability, Nor do I really care. He's entertaining, Good or bad, He's entertaining and that's pretty much all I look for from the entertainment industry and all of it's actors/actresses.

When it comes to a Steve Jobs movie, Steve never struck me as a person who would complain, or be ungrateful for a poorly dubbed "Bad Actor" playing him, Or at least a younger version of him.

I think Steve would be honored either way, Solely on the fact that someone cared enough about him and what he did with his life to make a movie about him and everything he did.

And yes, I'm sure a lot of you will give this post a thumbs down.

You are, of course, entitled to feel that being entertained is all that you require from an actor.

As a movie fan (especially older movies), I would argue that there is more to acting than just being "entertaining". There is skill, craft, technique and art involved. Also range - being able to inhabit more than one type of role. And as was said of Spencer Tracy, he "never got caught acting". Current actors such as Edward Norton, Giovanni Ribisi, Ben Kingsley, and Robert Carlyle, to name only a few, have skill, range, and artistry. Ashton Kutcher does not.

This is, of course, a matter of taste. But there are criteria for good acting, and it's not just reading lines. :) ;)

I dont really like Kutcher in 2 and a half men. I dont think its his fault or his acting. The character he plays is like a wimpy crybaby. It gets old real fast. I guess what im saying is the character he is playing is just plain stupid. I liked charlie much better but hes gone now so. I likely will just stop watching 2 and a half men all together.

I dont know how he would do as a young steve jobs. Honestly I dont see him to be serious enough for the part. he is to much of a jokester.

Up, up in my studio, studio
Christian Bale has that whole yell everything stage of acting.

Have you seen Bale in Equilibrium? He had no problem portraying the restraint required for his role in that one. On the other hand, his co-star Taye Diggs smiled way too much, given the setting and the circumstances (dystopian future society in which citizens are mandated to take drugs to suppress emotion, ostensibly in order to prevent another world war).

My wife has the same problem with Kutcher in ...Men and is losing interest in the show, and fast. Thank goodness Mike & Molly has established its own audience and doesn't need the lead-in anymore.

I loved Equilibrium. I was a top Bale fan and his last several movies and that stage-side blow-up ruined him for me.

Christian Bale all the way...

He looks similar to Jobs... he can definitely act well... and he is an extreme actor- so depending on the script- Bale would be willing to gain and lose weight which would be necessary if the script calls for Jobs life story.

They're after money.

I think Noah Wyle would be a good one to play the part. Steve Jobs even had him on stage acting as him one time (a long time ago I think).
I think Christian Bale would be a good one too.
But please, no Kutcher.
