You‘re probably right. I’m curious what they do with the Magic Keyboard. The new keyboard has a function row but the way the Magic Keyboard is currently designed there isn’t room for another row of keys. But I love the design because the screen feels so close to the keys; you don’t ever feel like you’re really having to reach to touch the screen. And I like that it’s usable on a lap. I would hate if the iPP became more like a Surface or if the Magic Keyboard became more like this new keyboard.
The 10 has a separate kickstand back and keyboard. Assuming the next Pros maintain the rear smart connector Apple could combine them into a single keyboard case.

Apple already has a potential solution to having the pencil charger and the camera system on the same landscape side…look at the iPhone 14 pros…dynamic island. Lowering the camera system behind the screen potentially frees up space for the charger to remain in the bezel.
I hope not. As I use my device 50% for watching movies/videos, web browsing and 50% for photography efforts, unless they make the screen larger, I would really had a black dot/oval hovering in the middle of the screen. It would annoy me severely. I can see on the iphone where the screen real estate is limited and because that device isn't necessarily a content comsumption only device, it probably works. I feel they have enough frame real estate that they could either relocate the pencil without adopting the island.

Still, if USB-C is the future for base iPad, why not give it an USB-C Pencil 1 gen 2? Lighting dongle for USB-C? The most Apple thing ever.
Maybe they thought the customer for this iPad is upgrading from the base model and already has the Pencil? Or maybe they view this iPad as being used less with a Pencil?

Yea. I’m not a fan of the idea either.

My iPad usage is roughly split 50/50 between portrait and landscape mode. I think dynamic island would be more problematic on the ipad where half the time, it would just be an annoying spot on the screen.

Yeah. The MacBook menubar and iPhone Status-bar use non-application space which is why the notches and dynamic islands don't matter most of the time. This is not the case on iPads which are frequently used in both orientations.

I am not convinced I will like the new 10th gen iPad Smart Keyboard design.

It's very reminiscent of the Logitech combo touch keyboard, which I bought a while ago to try out, and subsequently returned. What I didn't like about the kickstand and keyboard is how much space they take up. This made me appreciate the design of the smart and magic keyboard even more. Yes, they are missing function row keys, but this together with the angled back (I don't know what you call it) means it takes up way less space on my desk, leaving me with more room to mark my assignments.

These are the reasons why I Prefer Apple's other iPad keyboards which unfortunately due to size constraints they cant have the Fn row unless the trackpad or other keys are smaller, not that slightly smaller keys would be bad. Plus the kickstand ones are less stable, and harder to use on your lap.
