macOS 27 is arguably a maintenance release without any headline feature. So I'm wondering, what was the last big macOS feature that caught your attention and made you go "wow"?

For me it was probably iPhone Mirroring.

For me it was when I could send/receive Messages from my Mac and the messages synced with my phone. That was super convenient and I probably compose more messages on my Mac or iPad than on my iPhone. Mirroring is neat but I never use it for anything, but did test it out a couple times.

I just went back to Snow Leopard on Wikipedia and looked up all the new things since then... these are things that made a difference for me: AirDrop, Notification Center, Password App, iCloud Drive, Dark Mode, Activation Lock, Low Power Mode.

Things I miss... Dashboard, Launchpad, iTunes, 32-bit app support.

Agreed! I remember when they announced that these apps would sync on the Mac. I thought it was such a waste, but boy, was I wrong! Especially as the phones became so powerful, it’s tremendous to move back and forth between them.

What I miss:
1) Font/DA Mover. I cannot stand (or use, or understand) the three foot long font menus.

2) A Maximize button that just makes the window full screen, instead of creating a “virtual space” or whatever it’s called.

#1: You and me both. My kingdom for the ability to turn off and/or remove almost every font Apple includes as part of the locked down system.

#2: You can hold the Option key down when clicking the green stoplight button to do what you want. Not exactly as easy as just hitting the button without the key, but does the trick.

I don't use iPhone mirroring - my iPhone is always with me anyway, so I just use it directly. But I think the best MacOS feature is really a feature of the ecosystem - handoff and continuity. It's like magic.

Settings / Desktop & Dock - there is an option to drag windows to the menu bar to fill the screen as well. I can't remember if it's the default, but I have it turned on and use it every once in a while.

I don't care if the fonts are deleted or not, I just don't want the three mile long font menus. It makes it impossible to find the fonts I want. With all the effort Apple puts into UI design, it truly shocks me the this is the *only* way that font menus work in the Mac ecosystem.

And, heaven knows, I don't want to select one set of fonts for Microsoft apps, another for Apple apps, and another for Adobe. I just want one system-wide font selector. And, ideally, if I open a doc which uses a font that's not part of my font menu but it's installed in the system, the font is added to the font menu while the doc is open.
