21st looks like a good bet

Got an email from the KelbyOne with the graphic below. I wonder why the emphasis on Scott and RC being the co hosts of the Lightroom Show? Could it be that LR 6 launches on that date? Very likely indeed.

BTW, if you wonder what happened to the former KelbyOne Mr. Lightroom Matt Kloskowski, he is now a Director at OnOne who makes Perfect Photo Suite.

Next week is looking up!

I think someone at KelbyOne was not playing attention to the time difference between EDT and PDT. The KelbyOne invitations will now go out at noon EDT Tuesday for a 1PM EDT event. That makes sense because most of the Apple events from California start around 1PM back on the east coast.

That's what I was thinking. It's not the same time adjustment across the schedule though.

It will be a busy day tomorrow at Adobe and all the other companies that do LR plugins.

According to their blog:

Yet by the same token, I do believe Adobe at some point will be moving away from the boxed edition for Lightroom. It may not happen in version 6, but it will happen. Companies promised one thing and then changed course and did another in the past. Nothing is really stopping Adobe from dropping the boxed version (other then alienating and angering their core audience.)

Just download LR 6 which is the name of the standalone version. Lightroom CC is the online subscription version.

Note very carefully the Q&A from Kelby One. If the Q&A answers are correct, LR 6 is the beginning of the end for standalone LR. I put in the italics at the end of the last answer. Time to be planning to go LR CC or C1P by next year.

Lightroom Q&A

So this version is now called Lightroom CC?
The current version of Lightroom is called Lightroom CC, and includes access to Lightroom on your mobile devices. It’s part of the Photographers Bundle subscription plan from Adobe, and its included in the full Creative Cloud as well.

Is this a free upgrade as a Creative Cloud subscriber?
Absolutely is. This is one of the benefits that you get – free updates for all of the software you know and love.

Can I still buy Lightroom or do I have to subscribe?
You can still buy it; the purchased version (which will not include access to Lightroom on your mobile devices) is called “Lightroom 6” and will not receive any future feature updates. New features or enhancements will only be added to Lightroom CC.

I'm on the fence myself, keep paying 10 bucks a month and gain access to PS, though I don't use it that much, do I find some uses, or spend 150 for the full version

MCAsan's Q&A post above and the fact that LR CC has the total integrated set of features (vs LR6) would make me leery of sticking with the stand alone version.

I am going to stick with C1P. Though I would really like the panorama feature the fact that the UI didn't really change makes me not interested. When I trialed LR5 that was the #1 reason I did not stick with LR. The UI just never clicked with me where C1P (and Aperture) did.

Besides, my wife has the full Adobe CC subscription from her work on her laptop so if I ever want to use it I can try a few photomerges over there.

Oh I know here's a better looking link of features.

----------

Can't seem to download it yet through CC.

Sign out of the Creative Cloud app, and sign back in. Quitting/restarting the app won't do it. Signing out/in did it for me.

Sure there is a standalone, but Adobe is going to make it so you don't want it. I really don't like the subscription but it looks like some good old fashioned arm twisting by Adobe to get me on CC.
