I would say that at least in case Fuji that is because the competition is asymmetric: Sony doesn’t make a medium format camera and Fuji has no intention to make full frame sensor cameras. So in this sense, Fuji isn’t worried either. Because people who want a truly large sensor camera have different expectations when it comes to AF performance and such.
Nikon and Canon are in direct competition, though.
