Well I have had my 3G iphone since Feb. 09' and in Jnune or July I am leaving AT&T because I can't afford the $95 monthly bill and going back to school. So I am going back to Sprint and in june/July they are releasing a HTC Evo. I also know how I can get a cheaper cellphone bill with Sprint and that will help me a lot. Here is the phones specs...
http://now.sprint.com/evo/

...congratulations?

Really, what's the purpose of posting here besides to attract the derision of others? It's like walking into a Porsche diehard fan club and announcing 'Hey guys, I bought a BMW Z4. Those guys just had a deal I couldn't resist. Ciao!'

Hope you can afford AT&T's early termination fee.

I already got out of AT&T contract. In my bill I noticed they added charges to e911. Well I called AT&T and spoke to a retentions manager and told her adding new fees to my contract was a breach of contract because I don't approve of them. So the lady cancelled my contract but I told her dont. So over the weekend I called back to see how much it was to cancel my accounnt and she said it was $175 but I didnt need to because she said I am already out of a contract. So I'm thinking the retentions manager did something to take me out of my contract to be nice or something. So that helps a lot.

Are you having problems keeping to your minutes? If so, then go ahead. Sprint's simply everything plans seem attractive. If you aren't having problems going over your minutes, your savings on a $95 bill aren't going to be that substantial.

I'm considering switching to Sprint/EVO as well but what's the point of starting this thread?? Go share this on an Android forum and you'll get better responses.

There can only be two possible reasons you would be so self indulging as to create a topic such as this. I know I should not even participate in such drivel but here goes.

The first reason, of course, is only to cause friction and to stir up a bit of controversy. Your only mission is to inflict rage amongst happy iPhone users as you declare your phone and its flea market style plan pricing to be far superior to our decision to keep our iPhone. How dare us stick with such an inferior product and pay such absorbent fees right? Well someone has to do it, may as well be us.

Otherwise, I can assume you are looking for a little validation in your otherwise minimal life. What would it take to fulfill the acceptance that you so desperately seek? A pat on the back?...A handshake and a hug?...Perhaps a farewell party? Maybe your father never played catch with you or read you bedtime stories. No "Oliver Twist" or "David Copperfield"...The Dickens book of course, not the magician.

Either way, I can see from the earlier responses you have failed in each of the above scenarios. I say the best thing you could do is just not have any phone at all. Being that you so graciously provided us not only with your opinion, but also your financial status, I have to assume owning a modern piece of technology should be extremely low on your list of priorities. Perhaps somewhere near, I don't know say a cleaning robot like Rosie from "The Jetsons."

Just my two cents.

I love the fact people talk about switching.

Come on. We were having fun with him, but that's harsh. I've seen much worse from people changing phones on here. He simply said he was leaving the phone, because he couldn't afford it, due to being a student. His responses after that weren't "the iPhone sucks" or "AT&T sucks" or "you guys are losers and should get the HTC."

Just out of curiosity, how much will you be saving each month on your plan?

I gave my mom old sprint Sero account and she doesnt want that phone because she doesnt need it. The phone plan is $30/month with 500 minutes and everything else unlimited, that includes phone isurance as well. Usually after taxes its about $35.

I do not find my post the least bit harsh. You must read between the lines. The words only speak to what he is saying, the whole tone of the post however, speaks to what he was thinking. I simply addressed what he was thinking. He knows I was right, there's no harm or no foul. As a fellow iPhone fan I enjoy him like a fat kid enjoys Pop-Tarts.

HTC Evo seems like an awesome phone and $60 a month for unlimited everything @ sprint + 4G... it is pretty tempting

I heard sprint gives a 20% discount for health professionals... Are there any discounts like that from AT&T? That would be awesome.

Seems like you want validation and justification to make your life whole again.

We won't give it you.

No, I'm still a student working on getting his dental license. 23% is stellar, I'm envious.

WOW! I'm a government employee and I am only eligible to get 15% off certain things at AT&T. Unlimitied minutes is excluded.

I emailed AT&T to see about school discounts and this is what they said:

Thank you for contacting AT&T because you would like to know whether you get a discount on your phone bill while enrolled in Cypress College. My name is Carmen Rough and I am happy to assist you with your inquiry.

I can definitely understand your interest in receiving a discount from your monthly AT&T service charges. AT&T has business agreements with thousands of corporations, government agencies and educational institutions to offer wireless products to their employees and families at a significant discount. I have provided the requirements and important information for our business discount program below:

- The account holder must be an active employee and have a W-2 on the company?s payroll.
- The account holder must be the individual associated to the company/entity in order to enroll in the IRU foundation account number (business discounts are associated with a specific foundation account number, or FAN).
- Accounts in the name of the spouse and/or family members of the individual associated to the company/entity do not qualify for foundation account number enrollment.
- The account must be individual/personal liability.
- If not, a transfer of billing responsibility must be completed to individual/personal liability before enrolling to an IRU service discount.
- Certain rate plans may not be eligible for a foundation account number monthly recurring charge discount.
- If the rate plan does not mention foundation account number monthly recurring charge eligibility, the rate plan is eligible based on the foundation account number contract.
- When the verification process is complete, the foundation account number will be added to the account.
- Once validated, the discount shows up on your bill in one to two bill cycles after the foundation account number is added to the account.
- Account holders who enroll/qualify for IRU/corporate discounts may need to agree to new two year contract.
- During the web validation process, you will be presented with the terms and conditions to accept.
- The monthly recurring charge discount, if applicable, appears under the credits, adjustments and other charges section of the invoice and it reads as national account Discount.
- Once a foundation account number is added to an account, the combined bill discount no longer appears (if such a discount was present). The foundation account number discount supersedes any combined bill discount.

To determine or confirm if you are affiliated with an organization that qualifies for additional savings, we need your employee email address because employment must be verified before a business discount can be applied to the account:

If you have a valid work e-mail address, you may begin the online enrollment process at:
www.att.com/wirelessdiscounts

Please note that you will need to provide either a work or school e-mail address to enroll online. Once you get your e-mail confirmation message, please check your e-mail and click the link provided to verify your e-mail address and complete the sponsorship process. The e-mail may be sent to the spam folder. As such, if the e-mail is not found in the inbox, check your spam folder. Please note that the e-mail will be sent from: premier@premier.wireless.att-mail.com with the subject line of ?individual responsibility user - online validation process. The option to enroll online is not available for retired AT&T and BellSouth employees. If you did not receive the e-mail notification confirmation, we will need to e-mail or mail you the IRU end user agreement form and then you will need to either fax or e-mail in the form once completed.

If you do not have a work e-mail address, you must fax or e-mail the IRU end user agreement form along with employment verification documentation to AT&T. There are three ways to obtain the IRU end user agreement form. You can visit a company owned retail location or the form can be e-mailed to either your personal or work e-mail address, or we can mail you the form.

Below are acceptable forms of employment verification documentation:

- Qualifying company/entity photo ID/badge which includes the name of the company/entity and the expiration date.
- Your current pay stub which includes the name of the company/entity.
- Student/university photo ID which includes the name of the college/university and the expiration date.
- Union member badge/photo ID which includes the expiration date.
- Your company business card (must contain an e-mail address with corresponding company domain) or medical ID for select businesses and retirees.
- AT&T and Bell South retirees may also provide pension check stub or retiree ID.

You may visit one of our company owned retail locations and provide employment verification identification. The link to our store locator is:

http://www.wireless.att.com/find-a-store/

If you prefer that we either e-mail or mail you the IRU end user agreement form, please respond to this e-mail with your preferred method of receipt and we would be glad to assist you further.

-The account number will be requested on the form. Your account number is 594236250.
-The foundation account number must be on the form prior to faxing/e-mailing.
- Our company owned retail locations can provide you the foundation account number once the ID is verified.
- Complete instructions can be found on the IRU end user agreement form.
- The IRU end user agreement form and the employment identification documentation must be faxed or e-mailed.
- Once submitted the AT&T verification will review the submission within three days.
- Once the foundation account number is added, you will receive a text message notification.
- If for some reason the foundation account number cannot be added or additional information is needed, you will be contacted via phone.
- You will need to provide one form of valid employment verification identification with the form.

Aaron Poat, I hope that the information provided has been helpful and has addressed all of your questions. If you need to contact us again regarding a new issue please send us another email via the contact link through your online account. Again, my name is Carmen Rough, and I thank you for being a valued AT&T customer since at least February of 2009. We will do our best to ensure that your wireless experience is a success.

Sounds like YOU'RE the one with daddy issues. What's the matter buddy, no hugs or parental love growing up? Or is it that you lack the self esteem and confidence so you build yourself up being an internet tough guy and we're all just fortunate enough to be here to witness it? You/you're post reek of the dork in the corner who got pushed around in high school so you developed a piss poor attitude towards people in general because you think your smarter then everyone but mostly because no one accepted you. Time to wash your 3 day old Metallica t-shirt soaked in sweat, mountain dew, and covered with whatever cheeto remnants that didn't end up on your mom's basement sofa.

Just my two cents, smart guy.

lol dont get me wrong, I love the iphone but I cant afford it with school. Maybe after I'm done with school I'll go back to it.

i don't understand how people can be so negative to people on this thread. the OP's reason for posting is because he's frustrated with some of the negatives of the iPhone. Why can't we discuss those along with the positives without insulting each other? Seriously, some people are insecure, but it's not the OP.

Because he already made his decision....Why post a thread that he is leaving? Is he a celebrity or something? Is there some reason why any of us would care that he is leaving? Is it expanding our knowledge base with this thread that he is leaving? It would be different if he was thinking about leaving and asking opinions but he really isn't. What if every Iphone user with ATT posted a thread like this when they left? Macrumors would have to create a new forum called " exit interview " to discuss everyone's reason for leaving...

I mean I get talking about certain things here, but I doubt anyone here would be able to help him anymore than ATT's retention department.
