Not sure if this is old news, but Valve announced Left 4 Dead 2 will be coming out Oct. 5th, when the new DLC hits. The wording doesn't say this directly, but read it for yourself. Could even come out sooner.

Great, hope it runs well on OSX. Maybe we can expect more graphics updates from Apple shortly thereafter.

Was playing L4D2 last night. This game should win awards, it is that amazing. I don't know how much motion capture is used on facial expressions (if any), but Source has the best facial animations I've ever seen. In comparison, Dead Rising is a joke.

Source has always done a great job of what I call 'eye level resource focus'. When Half-Life 2 came out and you compare to Doom 3, Doom 3 had overall better graphics, but HL2 did a great job with the stuff you would naturally look at - so it seemed to look better! They have done wonderful things with the engine over the last 5 years, as you say the L4D games look fantastic!

I think that left 4 dead and left 4 dead2 is the best zombie slayer game in the video game history. no matter what will be coming, there is no game to beat this. dead rising 2 or whatever? it can't match.

I think L4D and Dead Rising are in two different camps. L4D is serious, while in Dead Rising, you can quite literaly mow down zombies with an industrial lawn tractor, bust their heads in with frying pans, and go zombie bowling; you can even assemble a mega man costume and go nuts. They're both great games, (looking forward to Dead Rising 2!) but I think it's really hard to choose one over the other. Depends on your mood at the time, I guess.

I need to clarify, L4D and L4D2 have the best facial animations of any video game, but not as good as Avatar, the movie. :)

Oh, come now. Honk 20 clown noses for an award. How serious can that be. ;)

I suppose I don't have an excuse not to play anymore :(

not only is it coming out soon, but new content is coming with it. free, of course, for the PC/Mac users. valve is great.

In case anyone didn't see this, Valve confirmed L4D2 for tomorrow (Oct 5th), but L4D1 isn't ready but should be out by Halloween:

From L4D blog:
Left 4 Dead 2 will be released on the Mac Tuesday October 5th. If you already own it on the PC, then you own it on the Mac. All you need to do is install it on your Mac and start playing.

If you don’t already own it, now is a great time to pick it up. Not only do you get Left 4 Dead 2 but steam owners get all the previously released DLC for free! So you get the original 5 Campaigns and “The Passing”, “The Sacrifice” and “No Mercy.” Best of all, there is already a thriving community and excellent community created campaigns waiting for you.

Sorry Left 4 Dead owners, the Mac version is coming but we are running a little late. We hope to have it out in time to celebrate Halloween on the Mac. When released, L4D1 Mac players will receive the same great treatment. All the previous released updates and DLC for free and the ability to play an extensive library of community content. More information on the release date as it nears.

Well its up on steam now. Left 4 Dead 2 and all of its dlc is 6.79! Wow, thats a great deal. Who says good things don't come to those who wait ;)

Is L4D2 acceptable playable only by trackpad/keyboard of macbook white?

I don´t have a game controller neither a mouse.

Would be fun anyway, or I need to buy a game controller?
