Lenovo on Tuesday has silently introduced an iPhone 6-lookalike smartphone, dubbed the Lenovo Sisley S90, in China for CNY 1,999
Not just sporting a similar look to the iPhone 6, the Lenovo Sisley S90 promotional images that are doing the rounds of the web are almost identical to the ones Apple is using for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

Idiotic that companies are allowed to get away with this.....especially a multi-national like Lenovo.

I can't believe Apple wouldn't sue the pants off them.....

Yep, weird when they sue Samsung for something that only if you squint so hard you are nearly blind, you may think was an iPhone copy - they are seemingly are letting other companies get away with clearly 'shameless' copies - even down to the marketing material being copied.

Wow. Why not just call it the lPhone at that point? (lowercase L there, but you get the idea)

Lol shame on them. At least they made the antenna bands look like they should've on the iPhone

Apple won't sue in China, and I don't think this will come to the US.

All things being said, that phone doesn't look bad at all design-wise. Obviously, since its practically the iPhone with android, but still, if I didn't care too much about specs and wanted a phone that looked nice, this would be a contender.

Still, its pretty expensive (~$350 USD) for the specs compared to some chinese phones. I'm assuming since RAM isn't listed, it's 1gb. And a 1.2ghz processor shouldn't stun.

Either they had advance info on exactly what the iphone would be like ....or they can turn out a new phone in the blink of an eye.

This is disgraceful. You don't expect the likes of Lenovo (which has pushed out some original designs) to pull this kind of crap.

Even with this blatant rip-off, Apple is still trying rip Samsung a new one...

The Lenovo has 3 capacitive buttons on the front, the iPhone has one physical button.

There are only just so many ways to design a touchscreen device. So I guess Apple simply needs to produce every variation first and then all of their competitors can be accused of ripping of their designs.

Well, iPhone 6+ looks like the pebble shaped 2012 Galaxy Note II down to 5.5" display.

I believe the way the speaker holes are drilled on the bottom, the USB charge port looks more like the lightning port, the camera and flash placement is identically placed and looks the same, the rounding of the edges and use of aluminum look, plus the antenna band all give it a similar appearance to the iPhone.

But, this will never ship outside China, so Apple can't do anything about it. Just like the Goo-Phone which is a blatant iPhone copy.

Personally, I think Lenovo is doing this to cater to the Chinese customer that wants an iPhone, but can't afford one.

I'm no fan of Lenovo, but the thing, is Chinese manufacturers have always copied Apple. When iPhones get assembled in China, of course the Chinese are going to know all the trade secrets! Lenovo, Meizu, Huawei, Xiaomi, and many others who are far below their local food chain have all ripped off something from Apple in design. Lenovo even took design cues from HTC last year. I just find funny Lenovo would do it when I find the iPhone 6 an average design at best similar to the 3G. I actually like the Vibe X2 design better.

Off-topic, but I'm currently reading Walter Isaacson's Steve Jobs book from 2011. A great follow-up after reading Console Wars. For anyone who hasn't read the SJ book, just google its ebook and its there usually in pdf form. SJ would always say "that's s***!" One of his employees who worked on the Mac comes up with a good idea. SJ says its crap. A week later, SJ comes back and uses the same idea his employee had but tries to take all the credit. Jony Ive even mentions this. Good artists copy, great artists steal, right Picasso?

For a guy who gets worshipped by his rabid followers, how could a guy make and be obsessed so much on beautiful products inside/out but have such an UGLY personality to begin with? Walter Isaacson mentioned SJ would cry alot or get into tantrums. I respect SJ highly but his personality was lousy and he was a hypocrite. It probably didn't help he had bad hygiene, smoked pot, and dropped acid alot during those times. Addicts usually bite their tongue at the end.

I bet if he was ALIVE today, he would change his minds on Hummer phones (phablets) and might even cry or go on a tantrum if the iPhone 6/6 Plus came out like it did with protruding cameras and ugly plastics bands. But sue anyone who dares copying it. Guy was a genius and I respect his ethos and passion marrying technology with art. But he also was a BRATTY, artsy, EMO dictator. Still, with him gone it seems Apple has let go of the pedal and been on cruise control ever since.

Very cheap move from Lenovo.

I actually respect Lenovo and like their Yoga lineup, but this is just plain pathetic.

Well, dayum...their inspiration was clearly an iPhone 6. I blame it on those iPhone leaks. We knew about the design MONTHS ago. Most just didn't think Apple would do it.

That's the only smart way to do business nowadays. Why spend all the money on R&D and design experimentation? Just observe what works and follow. After all, patents have been shown to be mostly ineffectual. As a profit maximizing company this is only logical. Doesn't matter if its hardware, software, or services, the fast follower pattern with localization pattern has proven its effectiveness. The rest of the world uses the U.S. as a free R&D lab funded by corporations and VCs.

I really wouldn't fault Lenovo too much here seeing that Apple copies or borrows ideas from other companies. And the fact is, this is just ONE smartphone from Lenovo. Not many people living in the Western Hemisphere have actually seen many Lenovo phones. Laptops? Yes. Smartphones? No. This is similar to Xiaomi Mi 4 looking too much like iPhone 4 & 5 series when its flagship Mi predecessors looked nothing like iPhones. Remember, smartphones takes months to manufacture. Lenovo comes up with many designs. Apple changes it up every TWO years. Just because Apple comes up with a design and releases it two months before the Lenovo phone, did it mean Lenovo copied the design under a few months? Does it mean Apple have the right to come up with that ONE design while Lenovo makes a design similar to Apple and now becomes a copycat when they have so models every year. You can only do so much with a slab form factor.

Lenovo can occasionally design pretty decent-looking phones. Their LePhone (2010), S820, K900 series, and Vibe X series had decent designs that looked nothing like Apple's. Their biggest knock is the heavy skin, non updates, heavy and LAGGY custom skin, and using MediaTeks if it isn't Intel. But ripping off iPhone designs isn't one of their forte since they produce so many different models every year and this S80 isn't a flagship in the first place.

If I had to choose a good designer among Chinese OEM's, it would probably be Huawei. But even they took ideas from Apple with the P6/P7 and Emotion UI skin.

BEST in Design (Chinese OEM's)
1. Huawei
2. Oppo
3. Gionee
4. Lenovo
5. Xiaomi

Shockingly, I put Gionee higher than Xiaomi. I think the Mi 3 had the best design from Xiaomi as the rest seem like plastic copycats including their Mi Pad and other accessories. The Mi 4 feels uninspiring (or too Apple-inspired) depending on your vantage point. Gionee came up with decent glass designs with the Elife series and their breakaway company IUNI came up with a nice metal design with the affordable U3.

Oppo (OnePlus included) uses plastic but their designs don't always ape Apple's or anyone else's. Lenovo is ok sometimes. But Taiwanese HTC and Asus are better designers than all the Chinese and even South Korean ones like Samsung and LG. Design, I would put HTC, Apple, Sony, Motorola, Asus, and Nokia in my Top 6. Then Huawei #7.

Thought Lenovo was better than that... I guess they wanted a copycat to compete with the Xiaomi copycats.
