People around here don't spend much time reading Hobbes do they. Thats not a question really.

Yeah, I buy a lot of Doritos, so that means it's okay for me to "steal" a bag every once in awhile right??
You don't get to make this decision for the OP. If he is okay with it, that's his decision. He didn't ask for your opinion.
Actually, he did. He posted a question on a webboard, and that question had implications that led to a discussion. It is completely his decision, but it is neither your nor his decision whether or not I or anyone else can discuss the ethical implications of that question.
I dont really need to hear anything about piracy or dishonesty either.
What you should REALLLLLY do is split the family pack with a buddy who owns a mac or 2. $199 between 2 people is... wait a minute... carry the decimal, *tapping the calculator*.... is like... cheaper!![]()

Yes, you can, legally. The only thing is that you can't run both machines at once. You can put any single user software on any number of computers... but only have one machine running the software at a time.
You may feel that it should be that way, just like the OP has his/her own opinion about what's 'ok' to do, but if the EULA for Leopard is the same as for prior releases what you say isn't true. No judgement here, just trying to keep a lid on the misinformation.
The EULA is pretty clear: single-user version is for one computer. Family Pack is for installation on up to 5 computers in the same household. (They don't even ask that the 5 computers' owners actually be related, just have the same primary residence!)
Incidentally, the family pack can be pre-ordered at Amazon for $189. In the past Amazon has offered as much as a $50 rebate on the family pack, though they're not doing that this time, at least not yet. For me, it's just not that big of a deal to shell out the extra dough to do it the way Apple wants. They make a great product and offer it at a fraction of what Microshaft charges for their OS, so why not support them?
You're the reason why this world sucks. People like you. You make me sick.

I want to make it clear that this is not an issue of being able to afford the family pack nor was it meant to become a firestorm of moral controversy. I wanted to know if it was possible and many of you answered that. I very much appreciate your time.
It has become clear to me that Apple obviously is not M$. The way Microsoft rolls with the activation system and authentication, drips with greed. This makes me feel as if my value for their OS is vastly diminished. It is in fact a factor that drove me to OS X and apple. Vista blows...plain and simple. It is getting better but it is NOT worth the price they charge.
OS X Tiger has been a dream for me and the very fact that apple does'nt handcuff me with activations and authentification MAKES me feel I am getting value , as well as encourages me to be legitimate and pay for the services.
Im not a pirate, not a thief. Im a moral, just and upstanding citizen of the United States of America. I love this country for what it was, and what is can become again. Thank you very much![]()
