My iphone 5s lasts me all day and gets used A LOT. It's my work phone. Lots of calls, texts and emails. At the end of the day, I usually have between 10-20% left.

My HTC One pretty much sucks. It's my personal cell, and only gets used sparingly throughout the day. Maybe a phone call or two and some texting. At the end of the day, sometimes the % left is the same as my iPhone!

I love my HTC One. But I agree with you that the battery life is just awful.

I have a work iPhone 4 and a personal HTC One. I don't spend a lot of time on either, but the work phone gets used more than the personal.

The iPhone 4 can go four days between charges. The HTC One will die within two.

It seems to me that WiFi is the biggest drain. It seems to do better if I turn WiFi off, but it is a pain. With the iPhone 4 I can leave everything on with no problem. With the HTC One I have to turn off radios (WiFi, Cellular, GPS) when not in use.

Android seems very lacking in power management.

So how many hours are we talking?

Both phones were charged overnight last night. For some reason the iphone was at 99% when I unplugged this morning, so I can't pull usage info from it.

The HTC One was used for exactly 1 phone call today, plus 8 text conversations totaling maybe 80 texts. I browsed the internet for maybe 5 minutes during my lunch. Battery usage shows 14 hours 44 min on battery. I'm at 21% right now.

The iphone was used for 23 phone calls. Most of those are at least 5 minutes or more. I show 9 text message conversations, totaling at least 125 texts. No internet browsing (cause the screen is so damn small!). I also updated 6 Cydia apps while off Wi-Fi and responded to a few emails. Its at 29% right now.

If you updated Cydia apps and had to restart the springboard that's why you can't see your battery times.

The HTC one has a much more power hungry Soc, high resolution screen that is also much larger, and lets face it, skinned android isn't always as power efficient as iOS. For your usage of the One it looks about normal. While the battery on the One was never really known as poor it wasn't exactly renowned for amazing battery life either. Almost 15 hours unplugged and 21% looks pretty reasonable on that phone for the reasons I stated above. Also, what is your cell reception like? I get pretty poor signal in most of the buildings I spend my time in and that plays a HUGE factor in battery life. It will cripple even the best phones battery if your phone is always fighting to find stronger signal.

Moto X completely stock. 100% screen brightness and 4.5 hours of video podcasts with BeyondPod app via BT connected to my Volt, whilst driving down the California coast. (15% battery left) Signal ranged from Edge to 4G LTE. This is pretty normal for this phone.

I got a S4 running KangaBean and I'm getting about a day and a half.

I'm currently at 33% (1d 16h 16m 38s) Screen on time 2h 0m 58s

That's gotta be the best ROM for any Android phone ever. KangaBean is a work of art and this guy's attention to detail in getting the tiny kinks worked out is seriously unsurpassed.

Just thought I'd let some of my KangaBean fanboyism out. :p

I couldnt see the battery times because it only shows after a full charge, and it never got to 100% overnight. That happens about once a week for me and I'm not sure why.

The signal on the One is pretty crappy. I drop calls quite a bit, where the iPhone very rarely drops a call. I consistently have one less bar on the One than on the iPhone, even sitting side by side. I do not work indoors.

21% is reasonable for 1 phone call and 8 text conversations??? If I did that with my iPhone I would be at at least 75%. Just sitting side by side with no screen on time, the One drains approx 4 times faster than the iPhone.

There's gotta be some kind of wake lock or rogue app hurting the one in that scenario.

I'd love to find out what it is if so. I didn't hardly touch the One today, and my iphone was stuck to the side of my head all day, and the One has 10% less battery.

Flashed the SuperOneK (Sense 5.5 on Android 4.4) ROM on my HTC One a couple weeks ago and have been getting decent battery life. I'd call myself a heavy user and have at least two hours of screen on time daily. I can normally end a day with just about 40% of battery life remaining. It's not the best but I'm using the phone as I want to. I like not having to be particularly worried about having to use Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi ,etc.

Currently on 1 day, 6 hours usage with 2% left.. Just what I need from a phone. This battery doctor app has actually helped Alot with increasing battery life

If there isn't talk time to go along with it, I'd categorize that as light moderate use. With my Nexus 5, I doing about 2 hours of screen time, and usually 5-7 hours of talk time. Since I've moved over to the Flex, I've found that I use my phone more often. Now I have screen time ranging from 3-7 hours on any given day. It's definitely a good feeling to just use your phone however you want, whenever you want, without having to consider the battery.

Yeah, I'm rarely having any talk time on the phone. You're getting pretty decent battery life! It really is a great feeling not having to consider the battery.

Absolutely! Unlimited data coupled with excellent battery life, makes for an extremely pleasant experience.
