Hi Guys, been following this thread for a while.

I have a big 43" 4K Wasabi Mango Monitor, Korean import - absolutely amazing beast, incredible display, I use it on my gaming PC for 4K GTA 5, as it has Freesync.

Of course, I hate Windows for anything other than gaming and the odd program to be honest, so wanted to hookup the Macbook.

I bought a cheap usb c display port adaptor a while back and a usb c HDMI / USB / Charge adaptor as well, never ended up using the display port one as I was limited to 30hz 4K either way.

I saw responses to this thread about using SwitchresX to get 50hz, that was a great step up, far more response on the mouse and switching screens, but there did seem to be a bit of a repetitive delay lag in transitions, probably something to do with the desktop managers interaction with a base rate and the 50hz screen rate.

So when I saw the 60hz mod, I figured I would try it - it works amazingly - I had to go into normal display settings and switch between best for and scaled to override the switchresx setting, but once done I was running 60hz!

Transitions and page scrolling is better than 50hz, and of course infinitely better than 30hz. Well worth doing the mod.

Now, the biggest issue I have with it is, when I am docked I would like to be able to charge - I could do this with HDMI adaptor as it had USB / Charge port, but I have looked high and low for a display port + charge port adaptor and could not find anything, any ideas, maybe have to hack my own cable?

Anyway, anyone with 4k screen should do this as it really makes the experience exceptional - amazing bit of kit this Macbook, the 4K 30hz thing was the only reservation I had at time of purchase a few weeks back - not an issue anymore.

Rich.

I just picked up this monitor, I love it so far. The 30hz hasn't been a huge deal for me as I primarily am just typing code. The mouse cursor is the most noticeable part - the animations are choppy but that is probably the Macbook struggling to render on a 4k display plus its own internal display.

For me the bigger issue is the way OS X handles resolutions - Either I use it at it's native 2x resolution (1920x1080) which is OK, but on a 27" all UI elements are huge compared to my Macbook screen sitting next to it, or you use SwitchResX to get full 4k at 1x...but in that case everything is microscopic. On my Windows machine it is perfect as it uses 4k res but then can scale up UI elements to be the proper size.

Could you try the 4K 60Hz patch?
