Ugh, so awesome. Have you noticed any backlight bleed or uniformity issues?

I haven't noticed it yet. I pulled up a black screen to check but I'll wait until it's darker in my house to really look. So far I'm loving it though. The Matte is way better than the glossy TB display and the colors seem nicer. I still have to calibrate it though.

She's here!!! I had to move it into the kitchen to do a side by side with the TB display. It was just too big for my office desk. Here's a quick size comparison photo. I set both to Adobe RGB (1998) and these are the default settings on the LG. Unfortunately I have to take off to run an errand right now, but when I get back I'll play with it some more.

This is running off my late 2013 15" rMBP and daisy chained off the TB display for now. I'll also have to make a new wider wallpaper for it.

You can see how the Matte screen helped with the reflections in the room. The TB display looks horrible next to it.

Could you test the scaling in display setting? Does it support?

What exactly should I look for? When I go to the display setting and click on scaling this is what I get.

now I see. It does not support 4k scaled resolution. I was curious that it might support like 24 inch 4k dell display. The Dell is like this

Thank you so much.

It clearly states the resolution is 3440x1440, we know UHD is 3840x2016, so I don't know why you'd think it would be UHD.

Ultra Wide "4K" would be 5120 × 2160

I wouldn't count on getting your LG34UM95 's by that date. Mine has been on order from B&H since May 13th & was suppose to be shipped June 6. Now they say the back orders will be in on June 30th. IF you are lucky they may have enough to fill the back orders & the new orders.

I hope not, even though you're probably right.

Seriously tempted to order now...

Still waiting to see what the AOC offering will be like, I do like the design of their other monitors, and I believe it's going to use the same panel (same specs) just retailing at around £500 next month. Only difference is it won't have thunderbolt so would need to be connected via DP. I can live with that for a £300 difference.

Must hold onto wallet...

I sold my late 2012 imac27 and bought nMP with 6-core and Dual D700, I cancel the monitor I ordered on B&H because when I called, they are not sure when they are getting the stock..I read somewhere that someone contacted LG and it was mention Mid-August and still it is limited supply, so if you think your order will go through, think again, there could be more people in front of you..In the mean time I ordered one from amazon seller and this is the US version, not the one that is shipped from Korea with an adapter power plug..I got it for $1236 including 3 day shipping, luckily enough the unit is in Edison NJ and I live in NY..It was shipped today so hopefully it will arrive tomorrow or thursday before 4rth of july..

Yes, I believe you need the scaling on a 4K, because the text/fonts will be too small..The reason it is not necessary on 3440x1440 is because its the same pixel density as the imac27 in which 1:1 pixel is perfectly fine..

I just checked they have price at $899 until July 5th.

Hey, thanks.

Costo online has these available for immediate delivery ($950ish). I placed an order there and hope to have one by the end of this week. Express delivery (1-2 day) is available for a small extra charge.

I got mine yesterday from one of resellers in Amazon, service was good..one day shipping since it ships from their warehouse in NJ..

So apparently there is a problem with these screens either shipping with, or developing a backlight bleed issue 2-3 weeks after first firing it up. Apparently it develops either sharp light bleeds at certain points, or larger, less intense bleeds across large sections.

All stores that have them have old stock, and no resellers have any new ones in, nor getting any until the issue is resolved. The new batch of displays is still more than six weeks away apparently (I spoke with LG Australia).

Do a quick google and you will find plenty of people facing the issues with the display, and just as many who are eager to buy one but can't.

I really really hope LG can fix the backlight issue as this is definitely the answer to my display problems.

I hope those of you who have one somehow manage to avoid the backlight problems!

Kindest Regards,

Scott

Overclocker.co.uk got over 100+ in stock last week. Mine that arrived on Tuesday is from the June batch.

It has no bleed at all, and just some IPS glow in the two bottom corners. Although that shifts and goes away as I move my head or get closer.

OK Interesting - keep us posted if the glow gets any worse? I have a 5 year old 24" Apple LED Display here and it has essentially zero light bleed on it from the LED's when sitting directly in front of it. To be fair, the wider size of the LG panel may mean even sitting in front of it means you're off-axis to the sides of it, which would show SOME LED glow.

Shall do, and you're entirely right about the size making the glow more apparent in the bottom corners.

Although it's been ab absolute pleasure to use so far, and even at night on dark scenes the glow isn't all that noticeable. It's of an orangey colour, compared to the whitish grey of bleed that's always stationary.

I had the imac27 and the LED glow is much much worse than this one..I have a uniform blackness looking at it at eye level and about 2 feet in front. The box says May.."Rev. 02"..I believe becuase the stand is not height adjustable, some people might be looking at it a little bit above the center which will create that faint glow..

I also observe this on May Rev. 02 batch..Two faint glow both corners on lower screen because of the angle of view..If you level your eye @ center screen, there is no issue...

You need to stand back 5-6 feet to determine if it's glow or bleed.

Mine arrives Monday, can't wait to see how it is. I've actually been using a 23" TN for a while.

completely dark 5 to 6ft away

Right now I'm on a 22 inch Samsung CFL TN display with a 1680x1050 res, connected to my 15" cMBP from 2012. It's...not so great. haha. The TN panel along with the backlight actually makes blacks looks green-ish. I'm also saving up for a nMP and have been so close to pulling the trigger on the LG from B&H at $899 tax-free. But I think I'll wait until I have the nMP first, that way the price might go down a few more bucks, availability will be better, and the issues ironed out. I *think* my 2012 MBP could push this monitor via Thunderbolt, but not sure in any case.

I'm very envious of everyone here who has one and has no issues with it, though. Such a sweet monitor. I would take this over a more expensive 4K/60Hz display as well.

If you can wait, then maybe you are lucky enough to get the LG 34" 4K Ultra Wide for your new MacPro...But who knows when this will release, it was in CES
