I don't know about the GPe but there were a few reviews that mentioned it. Supposedly the S4 Pro and SD 600 are very close in performance.

Well, then I'm going to go out on a limb and say those reviewers are mistaken, considering all of these sources show it running a Snapdragon 600.

GSMArena

Google Play Store

LG.com

I do believe I've also read that the differences between the two are subtle, though slightly in favor of the s600.

Picked it up yesterday. First thing I did was update to 4.4.2.

Build quality -
Definitely comparable to my old N7 (2012 model). The finish on the back is very nice, minimal backlight bleed and no flex or squeaks.

Screen -
Even better than I expected. Photos and videos look fantastic, text is sharp and easy to read. Colours are great. There's probably a slightly yellow tint in comparison to my N5 but it's not noticeable in use so not an issue.

Sound -
Headphone output is good, not too quiet which was a problem with the N7. Speakers aren't bad either for a tablet.

Performance -
Seems fast enough for me. Not noticed any drops in performance with any games. CSR Classics was a bit more sluggish than N5 but not enough to change the gameplay (if that makes sense).

Software -
Well it's not as good as vanilla android. There's just nothing useful about LG's additions (that I've found so far) so they're just annoying. I've removed and disabled all of the LG stuff I can but there's still bits there. Having said that, it's not particularly offensive and I can't be bothered to root and put vanilla on.

Overall -
Well I won't be returning it, which was in the back of my mind as soon as I got it. It's well built, good quality screen, and fast enough for what I want to use it for. Plays nicely with Chromecast and my computer - what more do you need?

For £119 there's just no way this wasn't a fantastic purchase. I prefer the screen size to the N7 and it's loads cheaper. Win win!

I just received my LG PAD 8.3 GPE. Man, this thing is sweet especially for $225.

Question, I bought a case and the screen doesn't sleep or wake up, I have to use the power button. The case has that feature as I can see the two magnets built into the folio case. Is the sleep/wake feature supported on this device?

I'm using this case and the auto sleep wake feature works flawlessly.

I just discovered "Launchers", sorry for being late to the party. I've tried Nova and Apex and while they're both good I tend to like Nova a wee bit more, maybe as that's the first one I tried. :)

Is there a utility that allows me to move apps from internal to external storage? Wow, Google really locks you out from moving ANYTHING over to MicroSD.

Just got the LG 49UB850V, and it comes with a free G Pad 8.3. 4K TV and free tablet. Great deal.
Just gotta wait up to 45 DAYS for the G Pad to arrive.
Not so great.

Well after a couple of weeks I can now see both the pros and cons of the LG Pad 8.3 GPE.

Pros:
1) Awesome/sweet spot form factor.
2) Nice resolution
3) Nice quality feel
4) Aluminum backplate

Cons:
1) Battery stinks about 6-7hrs of web, less for videos
2) Not bright enough (is it because of the poor battery?)
3) Warm colors
4) Poor external speakers
5) Stock Kit Kat launcher crashes intermittently

* I was able to get around the launcher crashes by installing Nova launcher (crashes are gone). I'm leaning on a 4.4.2 issue as Nova works beautifully and eliminates all launcher crashes. I'm also finding that if I don't disable any of the stock Android apps it's also stable.

I dunno, somewhere in West Texas
They were practically giving these away at Verizon and I picked one up over the weekend. Overall the tablet feels laggy and the ui is a mess. I was hoping for some development on the Verizon branded model but there's hardly any.

I'll most likely be returning it after my 30 days.

That was my experience with it and mine was unbranded. Returned and never looked back. Totally put me off LG UI too

My GPE thankfully doesn't suffer the same problems, at least performance-wise--Google Now launcher is nice and smooth. The display isn't the best (a bit warm and not super bright) but respectable. Battery-life is also just OK. Otherwise the hardware feels looks and feels great.

I'm still not a fan of the Android tablet experience vs. iOS but it's slowly getting better--noticed some of the updated Google apps better utilize the screen real estate. I'm most curious to see Lollipop on it so here's hoping LG pushes out an update relatively soon.

I was really hoping to convert it to a full GPE but it doesn't seem like that's possible.

The size of the device and double tap features are awesome but not enough to justify paying an extra $10 a month for 1 year until my contract expires.

The GPE is really a pretty decent tab, especially if you favor the stock Android experience. I found it much better than the Nexus 7 (too little usable screen real estate), having a larger display and expandable storage yet still able to be wielded in one hand comfortably. Its display doesn't match the latest Samsungs but I'll take the compromise if I don't have to deal with TouchWiz. ;)

Head-to-head with the iPad Mini I'd still take the Mini but a fairly decent Android alternative if you want stock Android.
