You do know apple copied lg right?

iPhone look alike? more like the iPhones father.

So Dolce and Gabbanna had a phone, so Prada wanted one too, huh? :p It seems like a pretty impressive device. Not really elegant enough to deserve the Prada name, though.... Well, but I'd have to see the final production unit.

Well, I think both phones ware in development for a long time so "copy" is just mater who sues who first (in the US) :)
But "no keys, touch screen interface" is not such a original idea, the only issue holding this from coming earlier was probably technology and price.

Anyway, this just tells us how powerful is Steve's RDF :p

can some one explain to me how they rip apple off. Apple kept the entire iPhone thing very quite and no one had any idea what it would look it would look like. All rumors on it are hear say and LG was smart in that department. Lets look at the rumors because it seems people want this stuff and lets make our own. To be ready by Feb that means R&D for the thing was finished months ago. The basic design was finished even months before that. So the apple iPhone was not copies at all. Hell it more likely apple copies LG here than LG coping apple.

again, im a opponent of using the word "copy", like article said, only if there are a lot of similarity in functionalities, LG will not consider official action. Touch screen, OS, and look alike is not enough to say anything.

again, just a interesting note, think about Jobs' claim: "apple re-invents the phone" .... or not really

true. I think the most likely thing that happen is each company went on it own R&D track looking into what people wanted and rumors about the iPhone and what people wanted on it was great place to looking at stuff. It just happen to be that both ended up coming to a very similarly end design. We might find out later than the base code for the iPhones OS and the one by LG could be the same which means they went to the same source for it.
I am not surprised that both company came to a similar design in the end completely on their own. All it really does as you said it is hurts to destroys Jobs claim "apple re-invents the phone." because clearly apple didn't because some else came up with the same idea as well.

i think the OP DOES mean apple ripped off LG, aka apple copied LG

I think that is a great looking phone. I don't like the price tag though.

As OP, I did not imply that anybody ripped anybody off. Read my later post.
Just wanted to say that iPhone is not revolutionary as all the hype and Steve's RDF have some people beleive.
Two companies produced similar product at the same time because cost and availability of technology is at the right point, that's it. But idea is not really original.

However, don't forget that on paper LG looks much better. Not locked to particular network, no contract required, available next month and supports memory cards.
As for price, I guess if somebody is willing to sign 2-year contract, it will be available for less than iPhone from some providers.
