Something to think about, LG has close relationships with like of samsung and other asian companies use Apple, I would not be surprise that some information did not leak out, we all saw bits in pieces especial all the patents. Apple did say they had over 200 patents on the product so how many does LG have

dont know,
i thought multi touch is only a mac thing, like AFAIK, there isn't any windows laptop's trackpad has multi touch operation.

So the Prada is an poor copy/version at best then!

What most analysts seem to miss is the whole user interface. They're too hung up on the other bits. I see the iPhone as a very well designed, more impressive looking Blackberry type thing, but it's the UI that slays all competition.

im done with all these "copy" crap. U are apparent too defensive to even noticed LG's product is earlier than apple's.
Apple invent everything? give me a break.

Ok, all phones generally have a screen of some sort, and touchable ones are nothing new.

Apple's big innovation, again, is in the interface of the phone. It has many entirely new and innovative concepts in it. The LG phone is just like old smart-phones, but without buttons. The Apple phone is not.

No, Apple invented most of the interface of the phone. I'm starting to question whether or not you even know what "interface" is.

Yes, we're all aware Apple did not invent the idea of having a black rectangle with a big screen in the middle. That's not the point.

like i would be surprise by what you might say, lol, since u generally regard apple's product always superior. question me? sorry, tired of that years ago.

I just say "LG prada didn't copy apple", is that something u would like to argue?

Copy?

So Apple copied LG or the other way around. Is that really the debate.
Makes phone calls..
Plays music...
Runs OSX..oh....drat...anyway
I personally am over who copied who these days and all I want is a product that delivers what they cliam. I don't care if something is kinda or is like another thing as long as mine is mine....OMG your car has wheels too..
And more important that anything else my iPhone will be an Apple product not and LG one. When your LG phone that you get next month turns out to be crap, that is not my problem. And my completed iPhone this summer will rock and do everything that I need it to for sure. Copy or not.
Buy the phone you need for what you need it for.

If I see you making a phone call then stop being like me.
This is fun.

The LG phone looks nice, but...

~It costs more than the iPhone (much more, considering it also doesnt come with built-in memory)
~Lacks the impressive software interface that iPhone has
~Does not sync with popular applications like iTunes
~Probably does not have multi-touch
~Does not have WiFi
~Does not have visual voicemail
~Is not Quadband

So it's a nice looking phone, but it's no iPhone killer.

Way too many fanboys around here.

I'm sure they look similar by coincidence, but props to LG beating apple to a release date.

I'd personally prefer the LG, as 8gb of store is practically nothing compared to the size of all the media I watch regularly, and because I'm not looking into locking myself with Cingular for 2 years.

whatEVER

ok, first of all, what the fruck is prada doing letting LG make a phone for them?? prada is high end designer clothes which make me want to weep with happiness, LG make fridges. bad fridges. and bad phones. and bad microwaves. like, seriously. copied the iphone? dunno, probably. I cant really see apple, with the design powerhouse that is jonathan Ive copying a fridge manufacturer for thier upcoming revolutionary product. so whatever. i dont care. apple rocks, lg sucks. I have a bonfire in my front garden in which i'm burning my LG fridge. and some LG staff members. later i'm gonna firebomb currys. wanna come?

mac love makes me Kerazzyyy.:p

Its (the LG) is quite ugly in comparison, the only similarity is the full screen. Either somehow LG got wind of what apple were doing via the close ties between the part suppliers (I think this chain must leak like a sieve) or both companies had parallel developments which happens all the time. Somehow I'm leaning to the former... Come on if LG previewed their phone in later 2006 it does not give enough time for apple to develop a prototype and launch at the keynote. Product Development takes Months and years not days and weeks. All that rubbish about how LG are flattered other manufacturers follow their design lead is crap. He's just making the most of his luck, other manufacturers I'm sure wil bring out full touch screens shortly too, I'd lay money on it.

LG makes OK but un inspiring products and personally after seeing freinds experience them I would never buy an LG phone. I saw the video and it seemed to take ages to change from one screen to the next, very cluncky.

And would Apple seriously WANT to copy LG????

Its the UI which is the winner and I'm sure having a complete touch screen is not that new either, as ever Apple will win on the execution

There are many factors other than amount of storage and carrier that would lead someone to prefer the iPhone over the Prada. Simply because someone prefers it doesn't make him/her a "fanboy". That is the most obnoxious term that gets thrown around way too much, with no support for its usage. Go post on Digg.

I would concur about LG phones. A freind of mine was given one on 3 and even before his contract ran out he spent good money on another phone, a nokia, I think. The LG was that bad. He said after his experience he would never buy an LG product again. After my experience with Nokia (i'm on my third 6280, it keeps crashing and the MP3 player is a joke, my new 2 g shuffle is far better, I love it) I will never buy Nokia again. Sorry off subject but I am waiting for a decent phone, don't care if its 2.5 g either as all these 3g internet services cost money, and video calls are pointless. I am terrified of connecting to 3 News or whatever, its like the old days of pay per minute dial up internet. I'll only use 3g internet if I had a pay in advance plan but who wants to watch news or say cricket (the most boring game ever) on a 2.5 inch screen..

Back on subject apples touch screen patents have been out for a while now and all the major phone companies would be pouring over them the minute they were published. I suppose with a bit of hindsight this is the way things were going anyway.

This fanboy crap- I have no alliegance to apple and have been quite critical of them. BUT after my experience with Windows PC's which crash, get viruses, nokia mobiles with un sorted un debugged un thought out interfaces and then my great experiences using my fairly new imac, my shuffle and using freinds ipods I have come to the conclusion that apple are the only company who give a dam about the customer these days.

As an example, go and unpack an imac (or even an ipod) its a joyous experience. Rather than a cheap brown box, the apple is in expensive coated white card, there are pictures, immaculately bagged cables (which are well designed) the mouse and keyboard are beutifully wrapped, its so refreshing as this company are saying right when you open the box we care about your experince with our stuff. That's what did it for me with apple -opening the boxes for the first time.

No LG for Me!

Would never by a another LG Anything have a 42 with a DVR built in I paid 2300 for....th DVR erase itself, when whever it feels like it...alway after a couple days and one or two shows...oh yea, cant hook a DVD player to it. the static...is deafing......and the black level, even on brightest...you cant watch the SCI Fi channel. if it a good movie,in the dark etc... all toy can see are eyes.....NO LG for ME LG= Lots Garbage!

Copy or Design Evolution?

Haye you ever think about how would an ipod 5G black will look like if you make it fullscreen? ... just like the iphone. It´s not a copy matter. Rather it is a design evolution.
Apple and Prada (LG) just try to make the more simply phone they can imagine, and the result look almost the same.

I thought I remember reading some where this phone came out in the South Korean markets sometime in early Fall. Why is it all the Japanese and Koreans get all the nice phones and electronic devices.

The real advantage of the LG is the fact that is has 3G and can use removable media. I rather deal with file/windows explorer to upload my music and software than some sync or music software.

Does the Prada have Multi-Touch?

NO. multi-touch is apple's patent for consumer's device for the first time. as far as I know, LG Prada is run by Adobe flash OS. so it's very slow to response. I saw some video of operating this phone. that's sucks. I think Apple iphone has only multi-touch. LG phone can't do like using two fingers to zoom in & out photos.
