Quick update. Just checked my G Pad and had a notification that a software update was available. Presently updating to 4.4.2--pretty quick turn around time considering I believe 4.4.2 was released to Nexus devices about 5 days ago.

All of the GPE are holding true to getting updates fast. I know that was a concern for a lot of people.

The question being is it worth the extra bucks over the LG skin I got at BB for $279?

Until someone compares the two, ....

The updates coming fast is a very quick sign. May be worth it for that in itself for whomever likes the latest version of software. No telling how long it would take for future ones on the LG skin units.

I would think you could convert it to a GPE the same way the phones can be.

Is Cyanogenmod a good compromise if it turns out that it's not possible to flash the GPE rom? Sadly Google don't offer GPE devices in the UK.

CM is a great compromise. As long as you keep in mind that it won't ever be 100% stable (though it will get pretty close as builds for the device mature), I'd say go for it. I've even contemplated sending my GPe back and getting the other version as it can be had for significantly less here, but in the end the convenience of updates directly from Google is what made me keep it.

Sounds good. :) If there's nothing in the rumour mill regarding a Nexus 8 come the new year I think this will be my first tablet.
