I wonder how Samsung’s are very thin and still have a flush camera? Or pretty close to flush anyway.

They are taller and afaik Apple's vibration motor also takes more space. You can look at how the internals of either phone are laid out in a vastly different way from iFixit teardowns. iPhone X also uses a dual cell battery while Samsung uses a single one. I don't know why Apple does it like that considering they don't seem to have any battery capacity advantage.

Peak iPhone thinness ended at iPhone 6. It has gotten incrementally thicker and heavier ever since.
The bummer about the glass back (thicker) & stainless steel band is it adds more weight (compared to all aluminum). If you've ever held a iPhone 6 Plus in one hand and a iPhone 8 plus in the other- the difference in weight is striking.

I own both and find the difference hardly noticeable.

I have had my eye on an original pixel at their crazy discount myself. Pixel 2 XL looks excellent too. There are days I wish I would've ripped off the bandaid and just went for it lol.
Well, it's a little easier when you aren't 'invested' in Apple's ecosystem. You know my whole spiel on that so I won't get into it, but I've just never been one to hand all my cards to any single company.

Makes it easier to walk away when you want or need. Of course the downside is accepting that some feature or function you want isn't available third party or if it is, it isn't as good as coming from the source.

Lighter would definitely be nice, I’m ambivalent about thinner, they probably aren’t going to get it ‘wow factor’ thin again anytime soon (like the 6.1mm iPod touch or something) so you’d probably just be sacrificing battery performance. I find the plus phone’s are difficult to grip without a case so a bit more meat on the bone as it were might be no bad thing.

I just want them to bring back the sharp edges a-la SE.

Interesting you say that. One of the things I didn’t like about the iPhone SE, was that holding it one-handed was the edges were sharp and it was uncomfortable, where they felt ‘Unrefined’. I appreciated the four-inch form factor and being less obtrusive in the pocket, but having the rounded edges from the iPhone 6 through 8 is so much more comfortable to hold in your hand.

The way Oneplus did it with the Oneplus X was to me the way Apple should have done it. The OPX feels really good in hand and looks great. Give me that design with iOS and a full body display and you would have a killer new iPhone SE.

Oneplus are a bunch of idiots for abandoning that design just to make phones that are identical to everyone elses.
