The only downside of USB-C is actually not because of USB-C's technology, but because there are already many accessories made for the lightning port. If the new iPhone switches to USB-C, a lot of old accessories can't be used with the new phones.
That never stopped Apple in the past from changing the port.

Because USB-C is not widely used in electronics right now. 99.99% of things still use USB-A so changing something to use USB-C will create more plastic waste despite news reports (and the EU commission) saying the opposite.

People must just be bored of Lightning to want USB-C to replace it.

Errr what cellphone has a usb type A port ? I can tell you it’s 0% not 99.99%. Need to get your math right

IMHO, USB-C benefits over Lightning are overrated. My guess is that Apple will keep on using Lightning for the next few years and then get rid of that power socket altogether, as some rumours of “cable-free” iPhones suggested. By then they will have figured out a way to make a compact inexpensive wireless charger to bundle with all the iPhones sold.

Several bonuses here:
- they can use the extra space freed up by the removed power cord for adding more battery cells;
- satisfy the EU regulations for more universal charging solutions;
- make iPhone hacking with devices like Greybox impossible.

Overrated? If you’re being factual USB type c can do more then any lightning cable assuming it’s gen 2 or thunderport 3

Yep. Actually $85 with delivery, no where else available except from amazon US and works out similar to here.

USB-C can be objectively be better assuming its not just using the port design like many phones on the market. And assuming you have a high quality cable, unlike many cables on the market.

However at full spec its far exceeding the iPhones hardware capabilities. Transfer speeds of about 2x faster is about the best to expect due to NAND sequential read/write performance and overhead. Random read/write is around USB 2.0 speeds even with the iPhones fast NAND.

The small battery of the iPhone can't really be charged faster than current specs available through a USB-C to Lightning cable.

Their is some room for higher quality video output but we are on the brink of equal quality with wireless options.

Again I don't care either way it just seems pointless until there is a reason to do it. Phones being completely wireless seems to be approaching faster then some sort of need to transfer files faster over wires.

Can I disagree when I’m typing this on a device (iPhone 11, actually) which doesn’t have USB-C?

You’re still wrong. Factually. No matter how many iPhones you have in your hand. You said factually 99.99%. The amount of iPad pros and MacBooks sold would account for more then 0.01% so you’re wrong with Apple products alone.

Also almost no electronic uses usb type A to charge a device so wtf ? If you’re talking about the other end of the cable you’re still wrong with 99.99%. That while EU thing is talking about the port on your phone not the brick end. Don’t get how people get that from because Apple already offers a usb type c cable . The EU wants to kill lightning cable not usb Type A.

Like out or not but USB-C is the port of the future. Everything will be using it within 5 years.

USB C would look ugly on a iPhone so no Thankyou!
How do you work that out? The USB-C port on the iPads like my iPad Pro is fractionally larger but you really would be hard pressed to see the difference in day to day useage on a iPhone.

I just don’t want it on the iPhone
just because some European country or governments are demanding it

the iPhone “Apple” have always stayed to there own ways it’s what keeps them apart from the rest I like and want to keep the Lightening Cable!

Don't care as long as it's not a whole new port again with no accessories made forever. Wouldn't mind wireless once they up the speed range and public availability. Freaking Android is supposed to be upping Wireless Speed again while Apple is still turtling along at 7.5!
