It looks nice but not $449 plus tax nice. Goodness, the band along is more expensive than the 38mm and 42mm Sport watch. I just can't see myself thinking of more than one reason as to why I would pay that much for a band.
Especially considering that its lifespan is limited to 1-2 years of Gen 1.

I don't think we know this at all. I think it would be pretty foolish of Apple (although certainly not impossible) to arbitrarily change their band connectors for the next watch.
Look at the iPad for an example. The smart covers have been interchangeable for a long time.

Yes I'm sure. The Smart Cover has been the same since the iPad Air. The cover previous to that fit the iPad 2 and 3. Only reason they changed it for the air was the thinner bezels

It's only a matter of time until people start taking pictures of their band boxes in front of their steering wheels.*

Wow! After seeing a few of your posts, I thought. "I've seen him post negativity elsewhere". Yep, it seems you rarely, if ever, have anything positive to say around here.
Honestly, if you hate Apple products that much, why are you sticking around??

the AppleCare only extends a second year to the band that originally comes with the watch. So if you want your link band covered for two years with your watch under the AC plan, you have to order the link model.
