I received mine yesterday and it's already in the box ready to return. It is too heavy for me. Maybe it's because I'm coming from a sports band that is extremely comfortable. I also couldn't get a good fit. It was either too tight or to loose, it obviously doesn't have the give that the sports band has. I wore a Pebble Steel since the day it came out but the apple link band seems to be much heavier and has less flexibility to it.

If I had loved it the price wouldn't have been an issue but with the personal drawbacks to me it's not worth the price. I think I'll get a leather loop band as my second band.

Yeah, I've been thinking about this too- I've not seen any information about coverage of separately purchased bands! If I bought a link bracelet I'd want it covered for as long as my watch is! Fortunately, I'm in the UK, consumer law protects purchases and I'm sure if a £379 metal bracelet broke after 1 year, you'd be able to argue that it does not meet the expected life-span for that price. But, I'm not sure how this would work elsewhere

The extra band should be covered by its own warranty. I think only one year?

Under EU consumer law you should be covered for manufacturing defects for at least two years.

Under the Sale of Goods Act you are entitled to expect reasonable quality and durability. The courts have been quite explicit that cheaper products should be expected to be less durable than more expensive ones (e.g. it might be reasonable to expect a Miele washing machine to last at least 5 years without breaking down, but the 'reasonable' period might be 2 years for a less expensive Beko). I would anticipate that a £379 link bracelet should be expected to be very durable, so if mine broke after two or even three years I would expect Apple to repair or replace it (maybe with a small contribution towards the cost).

I had the identical experience. After 2 weeks of the sport band, the link is just too stiff and heavy for me. It is back in the box going either to someone else here or back to Apple.

If love a leather loop but no 38mm. So I may hold out for a modern buckle. Otherwise the BSB will do for now. Back on my wrist and saying Ahhhh.

Out of curiosity, if you bought the watch with the link band it had a bag to put the spare links in. Does just the band come with one as well?

No bag with the band only. Just out of curiosity, who has gotten the watch with the link band to know this?

I must admit I got my Milanese loop band today and it is excellent.

This band makes the Apple Watch look like a totally different watch compared to the sports band. Not one person noticed I was wearing an Apple Watch when I had the sports band on. The first morning wearing the watch with the link band, the girl making my coffee at the drive thru was like, "Ooooh! That's a really cool watch!" It just looks better with this band.

And since it comes with its own case, you don't really need the bag for the extra links. You can just put them in the case along with your sports band or whatever band you ordered with your watch in the first place.

But if like me you have the milanese loop, you don't really want to put it in with the links... the magnetic tab is easy to scratch and I know that would almost certainly do it! I thought it was a great idea that they supplied a bag with the link bracelet and since buying the watch and then the link bracelet is more expensive than just buying the watch with the link bracelet in the first place, it would have been nice to get the same accessories with the band as people who bought it already on their watch got.

It's not more expensive unless you didn't want a sport band. The way they've configured it, it all comes out to the same price no matter which order you go [at least in the US]. Link watch + sport band = $1049, SS Sport + link band = $1049.

It looks nice but not $449 plus tax nice. Goodness, the band along is more expensive than the 38mm and 42mm Sport watch. I just can't see myself thinking of more than one reason as to why I would pay that much for a band.

I thought that at first, too. And then the Casio comments made me have additional doubts about this band's appeal many weeks ago. But the more in depth my examination into third party solutions goes, the more convinced I become that Apple bands, and the link bands in particular, aren't such a bad value after all. The Apple link band really does go extremely well with the Apple Watches.

I had a Casio digital watch with a metal link band in the 80's. Actually I think I had two of them. They did not survive to remain in my lifetime collection as the watches fell apart completely eventually. There are superficial resemblances but it most definitely is not a Casio band. Now that I've seen the metal link bands in person I can now shake off old thoughts of a resemblance. And could kick myself hard for drawing comparisons based only on photos, to begin with.

I do have some lovely metal link bands on Seiko and Orient Quartz watches. But I know they wouldn't necessarily look good adapted to my Apple Watch. For their first metal link band option, Apple really did pick a very complimentary look. It's not for everyone, but for such a personal subtle statement no one band could be.

Oh, they will. If not because of case redesign or to make more money on new bands, they'll HAVE to do it because of problems with band release buttons getting stuck. Just give it some time, and you'll see.

Just look at the flimsical design of the latch and latch pockets:
https://developer.apple.com/watch/bands/Band-Design-Guidelines-for-Apple-Watch.pdf
think about tiny springs in there and think about water and soap sloshing there, dead skin cells, dirt and sand getting in there.

The sticky crown is just a glimpse of problems to come.
I've been gardening and landscaping nearly every other day since I got my watch. I just did a particularly gritty job at my daighter's school yesterday. I stick my watch under the tap and rinse it. No soap necessary. Nothing is sticking to anything anywhere and my digital crown is fine. I know some people are having problems with theirs but I think that could be a component issue or production run issue. If does not seem like a use-case issue.

If I keep up with my work I suppose eventually it is possible I'll run into some sort of issue due to debris exposure but I have AppleCare to cover at least some of the expense of a repair. But over 7 days of hard work in the hot sun, dirt, moisture, sweat, and exposure to even shock from striking gardening tools to break up hard soil is not doing jack diddly squat to my Apple Watch. I do not even have a patina of micro scratches yet! I finally have ONE. One smudge of a microscratch after all of that hard dirty work.

This is not the catastrophic failure you're salivating over.

I'll chime in again. Even with the caveat that I didn't like the fell and am not keeping mine, this is not a Casio band. It looks stunning and very much like the band on a $1000+ watch. No comparison.

I prefer the look of a lot of Casio's bands - not the mono-link 80s versions, more the modern Edifice ones - but I'd agree that Apple's band is much better engineered.

Got my link bracelet today. It's every bit as gorgeous as photos suggest. I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable it is. I love this bracelet!

Looks nice. If I can ever get Apple off their asses and have them admit that UPS lost mine, I hope to see what it looks like on my husband.

For now, the pics here and the memory of its appearance on him at our try-on appointment will suffice.

My link bracelet arrived today too.

I must admit it feels very nice and was super easy to adjust. I'm just deciding on whether it is $679AUD nice.

Is it a keeper?

Looks pretty gorgeous to me. When do you order yours out of curiosity? In Australia too and still waiting on mine.
