Apple have managed to reduced me to a giddy child since they mentioned Lion.
Why cant they just give us a date?!‽

I hope so. And I hope that makes it come quicker. It is now July 1st here in NZ, and I can tell you Lion ain't out :(. LOL.

No, Just one for every possible week. We already have a thread for July 14th. Now we need one for the weeks of the 7th and the 21st.

I'm sure this thread will get lots of activity for the day and then come to a grinding halt when Lion isn't released tomorrow... oh well. Gotta give props to the optimists out there for doing what they do best.

Remember: Apple also has iOS 5 in the works. It's currently also having issues with Final Cut X, so it's possible at least some subset of the OS X software engineering team is going to have different priorities these next couple weeks as they try to push out patches. I see delays ahead, if anything. Remember that Lion requires no physical installer CD, so they can take as long as they want without worrying about getting a golden master out to manufacturing. Less hard deadlines...

Yeah, Apple isn't going to release anything based on NZ time, but rather Pacific Standard Time in California.

I would have to agree with another person above that since the GM isn't out yet, we still have a couple of weeks yet to go, at least.

Well until it is released, ill be itching on mac rumours and my email to see when it will be released. You can put your email into the apple website and they tell you when lion is released.

They are not about to launch a major OS over a holiday weekend... My bet is on the last week of July.

Is it really that important to you? Relax, it will be released when it is released. No doubt these forums will explode when it's released. You're not gonna miss it.

So we're creating threads based on conjecture that we doubt almost to the point of making it a joke?

Can we just leave this discussion up to the other tons of threads?

can we stop showing so much hate to threads?

It's not that we show "hatred" per se, towards these kind of threads. It's, as roadbloc said, people tend to dig up terribly old or previously heavily discussed topics and toss up new threads on them in an attempt to incite the same discussion.

The issue with this is, if the poster of the new thread knows that discussion already exists on the topic, we get aggravated on the basis that the poster is just trying to bring the disucssion under their name. It's a silly control issue. These people feel the need to be the OP and therefore feel it makes them more important in the context of the discussion.

The other case is, if the poster didn't know there was discussion already underway on the topic, we get aggravated as frequent users of the forums on the basis that we have to see the same topic come up 7x a day sometimes. Much like Android, the entirety of the discussion becomes fragmented to the point where finding a solid stream of conciousness is impossible and research on the matter is too difficult.

Either of these cause a domino effect to where because of the fact that there are multiple threads and subsequent discussions, a user feels the need to create a whole new one just in an attempt to bring things to a central discussion thread. This is where the "official" threads come from.

Know what I'm sayin' dog? :D Not to be a Richard, but I doubt you'll take all of that in, but I hope you do.

Edit:

I wanted to start my own :3

I rest my case.
