The horror of it all. Misaligned apps with panel gaps. People should be out in the streets with picket signs over this ;)
Agreed. Unfortunately this is what happens when marketing takes over.

Somehow Phil Schiller has won the battle over Jony Ive. Common folks like us are left to point out the abominations.

This guy does a passable job at explaining the problem:

There is something shown in the corners! E.g. a remote session screen from windows looses its task bar. Because of this these apps cut the corners off. I don't upgrade because of this...

I use Microsoft's Remote Desktop app, so far they've not updated it, so you see everything. But even when it does get an update, I'm looking at in now, only the extreme corners are cut off. It doesn't even look like it'll get close to the clock.

I also use Parallels Access, but obviously thats not an issue.

I only checked on the XR (also rounded corners) with Parallels RAS, Jump and Teamviewer and it cuts of a lot on the sides. Maybe the corners are relatively bigger on the XR so it is another effect with the iPP but it still bothers me....

You think that Phil Schiller wanted Liquid Retina and Jony Ive didn’t? I think you have that wrong.
Liquid Retina as an idea has Ive’s fingerprints all over it.

Could be. I suppose I'll need to wait on MS updating the app to see the full effect. I don't think it'll bother me, I don't normally pay much attention to the far reaches of the screen corners ordinarily, but we'll see.

Yes, refer to Steve Jobs, the guy that made Bill Atkinson walk around outside to show him all of the instances of rounded corners and why the original Mac should be able to draw them ;) Perfect example...

If it's such a massive problem, don't you think the remote app devs would simply allow you to shorten the "full" screen slightly so nothing is obscured?

This damn video has been used to prove everybody’s point in like every thread ever

Yeah. Like hell Phil Schiller would win any battle with Jony Ive.

What probably happens is that Jony designs whatever he’s feeling like that day (think an iPad that’s so thin it bends for no reason whatsever, and a display that has round corners again for no reason whatsoever), goes home at 2PM and then Phil has to find a way to market this crap.

And it works beautifully!

Apple leadership is filled to the brim with operations people. The sales & marketing people are quite limited to Phil and Angela, who are doing a... passable job, if you may.

So because Phil Schiller spent a million dollars coming up with a new name, the iPad Pro has to be compromised and pay engineering cost so it can be branded by Apple Marketing?

How is this honestly affecting what you do with your iPad?? I saw another post where a guy was freaking out cuz he wanted to know how documents with square corners would show up on the rounded-corner IPP screen. Does it really matter? The corners of any document are always blank. Wtf guys?

I'd expect so, particularly a company like MS. I don't think it'll be a major problem, certainly for me, as I said I cant think of the last time I really had to pay attention to corner of the screen (and I do mean corner, there's not much cut off.)

The rounded corners represent the current design language for Apple’s hardware. I’m pretty sure the black borders and “compatibility mode’’ are the result of the home bar along the bottom of the screen changing the aspect ratio / available screen space.

I’m not worried about the apps i have that have black bars. Give it some time and your apps will be updated!

They do, but if you have the former 12.9 iPP it is hard to accept because it worked there without cutting something off.

It’s just a name....like bob
(I think you mean BoB, if you have also been watching Blackadder.)
Liquid Retina sounds daft to me as it implies it flows right into the corners, like a flood-fill. Perhaps they mean a liquid that avoids the corners due to surface tension, but they couldn’t use the word Surface!

Quit making sense- This is the internet, for Christ’s sake.

I was being very sarcastic man. It’s not that big of a deal. Apps will get updated.
None of this is as serious are some are treating it. It’s a device, not cancer.

I am thoroughly enjoying my new 12.9, the new keyboard, etc. Thanks to the positive forum members on here and one of them posted a device that allows you to plug an external hard drive in, and use it wirelessly with the pad to use as external storage. After using the new Pad this weekend I am keeping it and selling my 2015 12.9. And thanks to my carrier making me a hell of a deal on a new phone I’m ordering a new phone too since once I sell my current one, will be almost a wash $ wise.

So still no example of the rounded corners cutting off UI/content?

I love how some people slate the 10.5 and how bezels are evil, and then when it’s pointed out that the new iPads have bigger side bezels the response is “well bigger bezels are better as they let you hold the iPad better”

Well yeah, like the bezels on the 10.5.
