Hey guys, I was wondering when you use the Live Photo feature. Is it even worth it having EACH photo as Live Photo? So do you have it standard ON? If so, why? Or do you just save them normally? Wha is here the Use Case?
A good question.

I now set it off by default and turn on when I expect to capture some “live” context at the moment when I take the photos. I found most of them are the moments when we took selfie that people were trying to get into the pos, and sometimes arguing before squeezing a smile for the photo, which look much interesting.

However, Live Photo may impose difficulties in the process of backup up, e.g. extra space for the associated MOV file.

The point where I don't like is I can't remove the "live" video part afterwards, I can only hide it. Meaning there's a 2-3MB video for every photo I shoot which I can't remove.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you, that's not true. On the share sheet, tap Duplicate, and then you have two options: Duplicate and Duplicate as Still Photo. Duplicate as Still Photo and then delete the original and the video is gone permanently.

I do not know this trick.

however, if the removal of mov could only be done one by one, that is impractical.

I backup the photos to NAS. For any Live Photo, it would give out one pic (recall it is a jpg) and a mov file. One could delete all mov in one go

Well, yes, of course. I use it occasionally when somebody sends me a Live Photos to get just the photo part, or when I accidentally turn Live Photo on. I don't see any point in having Live Photos. If I want a video, I take a video.

Yes, I found it useless most of the time. However, it is a valuable tool when you like to capture the live moment when you took that particular photo, in most cases a selfie or a group photos.

years later the “live” moment could help recall much more memories of that particular moment/visit/trip than a photo of static view.

I’ve always used it. It doesn’t hurt anything and makes for fun little gifs. especially when you have kids and can look back to catch the little glimpses of voice or movement from years ago.

Hello, it depends, mostly off. I turn the feature on when I know I will use it to watch it later. Like a waterfall for instance. Some landscapes with rain. Or Birthdays when people blow the candle. Or during those days with Christmas, to get the sparkling lights. You can make loops, etc
