Hi again.
Just need clarification that are files on the desktop locked by default?
I try unlocking them but they automatically revert back to the locked state once I close and reopen them.
Is Open Office choking on the locked files? What happens if you unlock the file in the Finder (Get Info, uncheck the Locked checkbox)?
In that Get Info window, what does the Sharing & Permissions section at the very bottom look like? Wonder if something weird is going on with the permissions on these files.
Are other applications giving you issues with locked files? If so, I’d look to a deeper system issue of some kind. It’s definitely not normal for files to randomly lock themselves if you didn’t explicitly lock them yourself.
If the problem is just with Open Office, I’d guess maybe your installation of that is corrupted somehow. Have you tried uninstalling OO completely, restarting and reinstalling it?
(App Cleaner is a very effective way to fully uninstall software btw)
The only problem was with OO.
Tried uninstalling and installing the program a few times with no luck.
I do think the problem is with a corrupt installation.
I understand that Open Office has not been updated for some time so I just installed Libre and it worked straight away.
I don't think I'll look back.
"App Cleaner" is a good tool to have.
