Logitech Create

i understand that words on a page cant convey tone or intent. I want to assure you I am not trying to be sassy or disrespectful. I am as green as a prius when it comes to Ifruit devices.

as mentioned this is my first ever ifruit device and I am learning about it each day.

when I start typing, the only thing i see at the bottom is the three blocks I mentioned earlier. i will attach a photo so show when I mean.

perhaps its because I am using Chrome (my roots sit with Android ) ?

Hey, got the Logic Create today. Very nicely built and quality but way too heavy. I also do not like the fact you have to force the iPad in and out.

Completely agree, so I returned mine yesterday. Great keyboard. However, it's way to heavy/bulky and I cringed every time I had to remove or insert my ipad.

With the Logitech keyboard, I also was never 100% confident my iPad was secured inside the case.

After seeing an Apple keyboard in person I cancelled my order and bought the Logitech. I probably will get the Apple one down the road for traveling, but at my desk (so far) I like the Logitech. I was disappointed to find the whole setup to be more bulky than my MBA. But I was pleased that my pencil magnet grabs to the Logitech case, so it rests nicely on the edge under the spacebar.

Yes this is quite useful. However, I wish there was a slot to store the Pencil when the setup is closed. I'm actually surprised Apple didn't bother to come up with a way to keep the Pencil and iPad Pro together when moving about.

I don't mind Apple taking the time to do stuff if they do it right (the Pencil is glorious to use. Perfect palm rejection, handling and little to no lag). It's just that pens (and losing them) are a fundamental design issue which seems oddly ignored, possibly for the first iteration but still. Also I wish I could erase by using the other end of the Pencil - but that's a discussion for another thread.

I, too, bought the Logitech Create Keyboard case last night..

Pros:

-Top notch keyboard.. feels great, easy to type on, feels like a normal high quality laptop keyboard
-Backlit
-Nice function keys for brightness, volume, search, etc.
-Metal casing around the keyboard feels great and good quality
-Good case protection for the iPad Pro

Cons:

-Heavyyyyyyy.. heavy heavy.. easily doubles the weight of the iPad Pro.. Weighs far more than a 12" Macbook and probably more than a 13" Macbook Air!
-Too cumbersome.. you can't easily snap your iPad Pro in and out of it.. It almost feels like you're chewing away at the plastic grooves that hold the Pro in the case each time you do it.. And or you feel like you're about to break the Pro's power button off. Pretty sure I saw a few black specs of plastic that got shaved off last time I popped my Pro out of the case
-Huge size.. More than triples the thickness of the iPad Pro and creates a larger footprint.



For me, it's too heavy and weird to use.. I prefer the Apple Smart Keyboard as it's easily detachable and far thinner/lighter.. also more spill proof than Logitech's with the liquid-resistant fabric cover on the Smart Keyboard.

If I could pop out the Pro out of the Logitech Create Keyboard case with ease and back in, i'd probably have kept it.. I enjoy using the Pro in pure-tablet form way more than the keyboard case allows.. The Logitech keyboard case feels more like a mostly permanent solution for your Pro (if you're into rocking a keyboard 100% of the time)... Then maybe it's okay for those folks.. I just think carrying 3+lbs worth of ipad + case defeats the purpose of the iPad entirely.. Might as well get a Macbook at this point for the same price.

I did the same thing, returned Logitech and grabbed the Smart Keyboard.. never looking back, far lighter/easier to use.. I don't even miss the backlight.

The iPad is nothing like the Macbook is it? I use Windows, so I'm not too familiar with OSX / MacBook stuff, but seeing that the IPP is a touch screen, WWAN device with Pencil support and the MacBook is traditional OS with file system, network shares, accessories, multi monitor, on and on, how are the 2 even comparable!? I really don't get it...

I did pick up the Create last night from Best Buy, and it is built like a tank. I agree that it's heavy and bulky and basically all the pros and cons listed. But it's still a great keyboard and I'm surprised actually how often I'm jumping to the keyboard to type stuff.

I have the Apple keyboard on order, but honestly not that interested in it anymore, afraid the lack of back protection and dedicated function keys would be too sorely missed. I don't envision taking the IPP in/out of the case too much, so that's not an issue.

I have a Amazon rear case + Smart Keyboard and although it adds weight, it's probably somewhere in the area of .4 lbs extra instead of 1.5 lbs extra.

I think your right about the keyboard, I was torn, but it is heavy and I do have a macbook air 11 inch. So I think based upon the lightness factor I will keep the apple keyboard.

This is where the saying "you don't know what you don't know" comes in...

The functionality of an iPad isn't the same as the functionality of a MacBook, adding a keyboard to an iPad doesn't make it a MacBook.

What I'm trying to say is; iPad + Keyboard <> MacBook

How about this, try changing your perspective...

1. When you feel the weight, think to yourself how well protected your expensive new toy is.

2. When you feel the weight, visualize how easy it is to take the IPP out of your bag and set it on a table or your lap with the sturdy built-in stand.

3. When you feel the weight, think about that beautiful sturdy typing experience when you have to sit down for 30 minutes and type a long document you know you're dreading to do.

4. When you feel the weight, think about those cool function keys and how easy it is to be in an app typing, then hitting the brightness up/down, volume up/down or the quick search key and bam, you looking something up.

5. Lastly, but which should be first, when you feel the weight, think about how much stronger you are getting.

My perspective was 100 percent because I already returned the create.

I have the apple smart keyboard now and a million times better. The create is nice and more function but the apple keys add some function below the screen and quite useful too. I love how I can fold and view as a theater mode only and so light as well.
