Logitech Launches Keyboard Cases for New iPad Air and iPad Pro Models

Popular accessory maker Logitech this week announced new keyboard case options that are designed for Apple's iPad Air and iPad Pro models, offering an alternative to the more expensive Magic Keyboard options from Apple.

The Logitech Combo Touch is compatible with both sizes of the iPad Air and the two thin and light iPad Pro models. Logitech says that the Logitech Combo Touch is its lightest keyboard to date, improving portability and limiting the bulk added to a tablet setup.

The Combo Touch comes with a detachable keyboard and flexible kickstand for multiple use modes. It can be used for typing in the standard keyboard mode, or folded in a way that allows for sketching, reading, and Apple Pencil use.

There is a multi-touch trackpad, which Logitech says offers intuitive and precise input and navigation. There are auto-backlit keys in a standard layout with sixteen brightness levels. Shortcut keys allow easy access to volume control, media playback, screenshots, and more, plus there is a Smart Connector for connectivity so there's no need for Bluetooth.

The Combo Touch for the 11-inch iPad Air is $200, while the Combo Touch for the 13-inch model is $230. The iPad Pro versions are priced at $230 and $260, respectively, for the 11-inch and 13-inch models. The keyboards can be purchased from the Logitech website.

I love how Logitech made their keyboard case compatible with both the M4 and M2 and earlier iPad Pros, but Apple didn't. So even more so that they broke compatibility purely in software to force a new Magic Keyboard purchase. That's a shame.

For some reason you can't actually buy them yet - at least not for the iPad Pro 13". I tried on three devices in four browsers and for whatever reason when you select "Combo Touch for iPad Pro" -> Graphite -> iPad Pro 13" M4 and then hit "Buy Now", it just refreshes the page. That's a little frustrating.

… and this is what the LCT keyboard looks like after less than two years of regular use (in fact, the keys have started peeling off within a year). Not to mention the warping of the top case around the speaker holes, which has allegedly been fixed on newer versions of the LCT. I'd recommend it otherwise, as it is a solid product that offers much more protection for the iPad than the Magic Keyboard, but I have never had a keyboard that developed so much wear and tear with regular use in less than two years.

I have the version from 2021 and the rubber stretched like crazy (especially near the ports) in the summer heat. It looks absolutely horrendous and seems to be fairly common. Ended up cutting the excess and gluing it together. And it’s stretched out again. They say mass cannot be created or destroyed but when it comes to this keyboard, it’s an exception!

Logi seems to have issues with quality these days as their mice have been plagued for years with the double click issue.

Meanwhile the original apple magic keyboard was a finger print magnet

It's actually misleading - the compatibility is an "overall" thing for the case. The M4 case won't fit the M2 iPads - they just list everything out there because the same page lets you order the old version of the case AND the new version.

Same issue with the 2021 model, plus the issue in the image above. I think I’m about to upgrade to the M4 iPad Pro and between this Logitech product quality and MK being a fingerprint and a smudge magnet as the outer material has apparently not changed, it’s difficult to choose.

I am experiencing the same thing. Its frustrating because this is the case/keyboard I use with my M2 iPad Pro and I want to get this ordered so when I get the new one on the 15th I'll be able to put I straight into the case.

I have had 3 of these cases and never experienced this. Wow...maybe you got a bad one?

If they even include them. Apple is eliminating all plastic from its products that it can. My space black M3 MacBook Pro came with black stickers and I have black stickers from some other iThing I bought (M2 iPad Pro?!) if you want them.

I’ve used this on my older Air and it was good, but I didn’t like the keyboard being exposed when you flap it backwards.

But the newer version fixes that by being detachable, so you can reverse it or ditch it entirely - which I like for watching things or using the pencil.

More versatile than Apple’s, more protection, and cheaper.

Yeah, so they didn't launch anything new, they just updated the description lol. That makes me wonder if the old smart keyboards will technically work.

For the price difference, I prefer Apple authentic.

No, they do not, they have separate models for each new and old iPad Pro. The keyboards just have the same name.

Still doesn’t look like a solid replacement for the Keyboard Folio (🪦) l and I’ve heard the kickstand is flimsy for Pencil use on a table.

Have the same case, 3 years old. Still looks brand new. We have other ones as well and none look like this.
