Currently looking for a new wireless work keyboard, and kinda like this, but it needs their software.

I generally like Logitech's stuff and have an old M510 mouse at work..but I don't have admin access and can't install Options, which makes a lot of their stuff useless..
Same here. I always hold my breath when installing harmless stuff waiting for that black admin screen. It’s funny how im able to install simple .exe’s like Greenshot but cant get our IT team to approve Logi Options.

Quite literally planned obsolescence. Surprised it doesn't come with a note saying this keyboard will self-destruct in ten years.
I've been using the K750 for ~10 years. I replaced the coin battery/2032 with a lithium rechargeable ($3?) about a year ago and its working fine.
lol can I place you on hold real quick I need to run outside and charge my keyboard. I’ll be be back when the sun comes out.
I've literally never had to worry about it. Don't even know the charge level, but its simply worked for ~10 years with 0 issues.

I am a big fan of Macally for keyboards. Yes I know people will say they just spoof Apple's keyboards, but at least they are less expensive and practically last forever, at least from my experience.

Plus I like mechanical keyboards.

having no touchid feature, just like with every other non-apple brand, makes this just an overpriced wireless keyboard. i'd rather go with apple keyboard itself, or just get a keychron. logitech's qa has gone down the drain.

Meh, ten year shelf life on the battery. No thanks. I am still using the keyboard on my original 1984 Mac and I've never had to replace anything. :)

Can never tell if people are serious or joking without the "/s". But if serious, isn't this the opposite of planned obsolescence? Wireless devices need batteries and batteries can't physically last forever, and ten years is the longest I've known any consumer battery to be guaranteed to last--and if it's replaceable with a very inexpensive battery that you can buy at any convenience store (which the last similar model was)--then the keyboard can presumably go on indefinitely with the most minimal possible expense and effort of the consumer.

Most other wireless keyboards I know of, including Apple's, don't have replaceable batteries. Those are the ones that have limited lifespans.

And obviously, one can go wired indefinitely too but that comes with worse disadvantages in my opinion.

FWIW I was able to ask my IT to allow Logi Options to be installed.

Now we've gone full circle from solar powered calculators in the 80s to solar powered keyboards. I believe one day we'll be able to power mobile phones / laptops like this.

After losing two extended magic keyboards I've bought a Logitech extended wireless keyboard that's sturdy and great to use. But of course batteries let you down from time to time. Having a solar powered integrated charger seems a great deal... will try it next time I'll pour a drink on my keyboard 😄

Can attest to that, have a dead previous model – BATTERY NOT REPLACEABLE, tried with third party identical battery but no go, on the other hand if you're looking to ween yourself off computing in the next ten years......

Looks interesting, for those of us that like the Apple keyboard feel. It has the correct inverted T for the arrows, which is good. But even on the "Mac version", the F-key shortcuts don't line up with Apple's, which would be frustrating. Seems like the only change between the standard and Mac version is the labels on the control/option/command keys? 🤔

Yeah, I have the previous-gen K750, over 15 years old, and it works fine. I hope 10 years is just the "we expect it to last at least this long", not "this is how long we expect it to last, period." The K750 even has a user-replaceable battery.

The K750 is in my "completely wireless" setup:

That's a Dell 2-in-1 (Windows tablet with full laptop-style keyboard base,) with wireless charging and wireless ultra-wideband connection to a dock, which the monitor is plugged in to; plus the Logitech K750 solar keyboard, and Logitech PowerPlay wireless mouse with charging mat. I never have to plug a cable in to anything I touch, I never have to replace batteries. (Other than LiIon that age out. I have replaced the laptop's battery. But that's a once-a-decade thing.)

I just set the laptop down on its charging pad to charge, it connects to the dock wirelessly, and the keyboard and mouse charge themselves wirelessly. The monitor even also supports "WiDi" Miracast-like Wifi based streaming to it, but it's laggy and only 30 Hz, so I don't use that often. But it does mean I can wirelessly connect to the monitor even when I'm not connected to the wireless dock.

Calculators and keyboards don't use much power. Laptops and phones do. And laptops and phones tend to be "stored" in places with no access to the sun. Keyboards tend to sit out in the open, and calculators draw so little power that they don't even need a battery, just a little light is enough to run them off their tiny solar panel.

logitech makes some good keyboard with great feel. this one last 10 year except like many of their keyboards i bet the letters wear off after less than a year.

it can run in darkness for 4 months but doesn’t have backlit keys, so how would you use it?

Looks like another good product from Logitech. Don't need a keyboard immediately but will consider this also next time I plan to buy one.

Why do they come up with such a thing? With a classic keyboard with a USB cable, I don't have to worry about the battery, I don't have to worry about charging, I don't have to worry about solar cells...
