Then you must truly HATE iOS with the zooming in and out of apps and the slow and elongated transitions with speeds that are not even customizable (like they are with Android).

You must be a total n00b cause there is a REDUCE MOTION option on iOS

As others have pointed out:

Use Nova Launcher Prime and pick your own animations.

Set to 0.5x on Developers Option

And for volume control, use Notification Toggles app. It has on-screen volume controls. If you want to SILENT mode, use All In One Gestures. It has double tap at status bar with a silent mode option. Double tap again, and volume will be back.

Except he's not talking about the paralox effect, he's talking about the transitions and animations. iOS has slower and more dramatic animations than Lollipop and on Lollipop they're able to be eliminated completely. N00BAL1C10US!

Epic Fail ;)

Reduce Motion extends further than the 'parallax' effect. It stops all the main motion animations and replaces them with very simple, very quick cross fades.

The amount of noobs around here is starting to grow to epic proportions. You just contribute to that fact.

Plus you are quoting me as if my post referred to some third person, not your original post. LMAO

I left Apple/iOS because I got frustrated with its self importance and over emphasis on looking snazzy rather than being productive. Android has always felt less polished but much more sensible and logical.

But lollipop has totally ruined that for me.

- Losing the vibrate and silent options on the power button and replacing it with the 'priority' and 'none' business has got me totally confused. I'm now missing calls and texts because my ringer volume is often left low by accident.

- Calls and texts popping up on a banner is annoying because there's no way of clearing them once they've popped up - you just need to wait. And they're quite big banners so really get in the way. I much preferred the scrolling in the notification bar.

- The double pull down of the notification screen is irritating. For example, when changing the screen brightness, you now need to pull down, pull down, adjust, push up, push up. I'm sure it used to be pull down, adjust and then the notification screen would automatically disappear.

All the animations are also annoying. Everything now spins and whizzes around. It's too much. I hate the way whenever you touch a menu item, a ripple radiates from your finger. It's distracting.

It feels like it's gone back a few steps to me.
I left ios because I got sick of apple putting out final ios updates on older devices and crippling them, forcing people to buy a new phone. I will buy a new phone when I want to, not when apple wants me too, thank you very much. Also for the same reason you list. Also because reception is horrible in the same location compared to android devices. I get full bars with my androids in the same places where I would get no service on my old iphone. iPhone just isn't reliable. It's a cool toy, but not really reliable for anything important. ANYWAY,

Lollipop IS VERY different from any other version of android. Google literally changed EVERYTHING. But don't be so quick to hate lol! You should really explore android a lot more.

I have no clue what kind of phone you have, but I have a nexus 5.

As for the volume thing, you'll just have to remember to put it off silent. There's also volume apps from the play store where you can have control over certain sounds like ringer, notifications, system sounds, media, etc. I use an app called, "audio manager."

The double finger pull down is rather annoying, but you can install apps from the play store that add quick settings to the notifications so you only have to swipe once. I use an app called, "power toggles."

As for animations, you should enable developer settings and either lower the animations to your liking, or just turn them off completely. My nexus 5 has such a fast processor, I have turned off the animations completely and my phone just zips through things.

Like I said. I think you just need to explore the android world a lot more. Take a look in the play store, play around with ALL settings in your phone. There is literally everything in the play store. You just have to find what's right for you.

Also, use nova launcher. I don't know why anyone would ever have the stock launcher on their phones. You can move the app drawer with nova launcher.

Android 5.0, 5.1 and 6.0 are great for me except the ripple animation when I touch stuff.
It just feels way too in-your-face and those are kind of deal-breaking for me...
Sadly, turning animation off in Developer Settings does nothing about these ripple animations :(

Inability to customize, reorder, and immediately pull down to access toggle controls is one reason why I think TouchWiz is better than stock.
Yep. I also really like the TW toggles setup and pull down area. Stock is too rigid and not many toggles take up way too much space.

I completely agree with the banner notifications. I used to really, really like the scrolling notifications in the status bar at the top. It is a shame we cannot go back to that.

Yknow, ever since I updated to the new Google Now launcher, I haven't seen a single home screen refresh. Don't want to jinx it but I hope it's gone.

MRU, any home screen refreshing on your new S6E?

1 finger swipe up closes mine and I've got a moto x 2014 too ?

edit : Just playing around - make sure your finger is below the notifications (close to the capacitive buttons) when swiping up with 1 finger and it will close all - if you do it on just the brightness section it contextually thinks you just want to hide that part of the panel.

Personally i'm liking lollipop a lot - however my issues

1 . yep we should have easier access to mute / silence / vibrate and maybe reboot option when pressing power button.

2. still annoys me that I can't change my lock screen picture independently from my home screen picture. Why on earth this is beyond Google baffles me.

I have an HTC One M9 and I have separate pictures for my lock screen and home screen.

Setting> Personalize>Lock Screen>Change Wallpaper.
