all i can say is WOW! the most amount of macbooks ive seen in lectures at my uni is 2. i dont use mine as i write faster than i type and in my classes we write on powerpoint/keynote slide printouts.

haha check out how tiny the macbook looks compared to the guy just right of the left aisle with the white socks hat.

also check out the blog to. seems like a pretty cool chick.

I find it amazing that 90% of the laptops appear to MBP/PB as opposed to MacBooks. Dang, I never had that nice of a machine in college...

Sorry to bring the tone down a little but..

Doesn't it look like the guy on the front row is showing a picture of his large manhood to the girl next to him.

Wow. I'm in the serious minority at my University. Actually, at all of the Universities I've attended, I've been the minority. . . (Multiple degrees; professional student. ^_~)

Still: spiffy!

That's crazy! When I went to university, pretty much no one had laptops in class at all, let alone Macs - and that was only 8 years ago. How times change! :D

Well to be fair in my lectures no one brings in their laptops. Suppose it is the subject though as they don't lend themselves very well to drawing diagrams and writing equations.

I got my first laptop for school in 1999 (started Uni in '97). Almost no one had them then. Nowadays, you'd think people don't know how to go to school without them! ^_^ It's odd to see a student at my current school w/out a laptop.

'Not staged' my ass.

When a lot of them are powerbooks/macbook pro's, I find it highly hard to believe that it wasn't staged.

At the same time, it does look damn cool.

This is true. I went through Engineering, so a laptop wouldn't have come in too handy for many of my classes at the time... ;)

Perhaps it was a Macintosh Users group meeting?

I attend

Hey guys! Funny, when I saw the thumbnail, I said to myself, "Dang, that looks just like one of my classes." Then I clicked the link, and realized it was MU.

I can confirm that picture is not staged. Nearly every person at this school has a laptop, and I'd say at least 75% (If not more) are Macs. The school of journalism requires an Apple laptop for the courses. And since we have a very solid computer store on campus, most students purchase their laptops there because of the good prices (Usually student discounted regularly, but includes case, iWork, and 3 years of Applecare).

I'm currently using just a regular Macbook, but that's because I purchased mine before my senior year in HS (I'm a freshman now). I really don't have any journalism specific classes right now. Nevertheless, I'll likely get a MBP after the next refresh.

Even out of the journalism classes, I'd say a good one in three students bring a laptop with them to class.

A pretty big percentage of people who bring laptops to class in my uni bring macs to class. not as many as in the pic...but quite a few. A mix of mb/mbp but mostly mb.

To be fair and to put into perspective...when I went to Uni - we were required to purchase a Mac - so it may be a deal like that - there were PC exceptions allowed, but the majority of folks just bought the Mac...

Its funny, I got my PowerBook at the beginning of my third year at college and everyone was so enamored with it. I used to work at the front desk at the dorm I lived in (extra $$ never hurts) and I'd have it there. I've never got so many comments on a laptop, I thought they were all on crack as it was just a computer for class for me (needed to run FCP for my editing classes mostly) and we used macs in all the graphic labs so I got one that way I wouldn't have to stand in line to use the labs. In the years that followed at least 20 other people in my classes bought powerbooks/ibooks.

Sadly though my dear Powerbook (still like the name better than MacBook Pro lol) its nearing the end so its time to jump on the intel train in the coming months after leopard hits. It was the single most problem free computer I've ever owned (my first mac as well). I'm giving it to my parents as it will be more than enough for them to surf the web email etc. I will never go back, every computer I buy from now on will be a Mac. Sure this beast (well at the time haha) was expensive (and I saved to buy it, no hand outs for me) but it was worth every penny for the flexibility and reliability that it provided.

Maxed Blackbook (to match my iPod haha) or possibly a MacBook pro here I come!

for some reason "Look at them apples!" the little link inside the link, is not showing the pictures anymore, i saw them this morning but wheni went to show my friend i couldn't anyone having the same problem?
