I never saw the point of taking my computer to class.

I only use my MBP in one class. The professor confuses the hell out of me so when he talks about things that I know nothing about I just look them up on Wikipedia so I can keep up.

Although the shot looks pretty cool there may be a justification for it. A while back I looked at Theater production College. They had some special applications which only ran on the Mac which were required for the different classes. As part of your tuition you paid for a 12" iBook loaded with the software.

It may be a similar program here in this photo except in this case a Mac is required to run the software and you provide the computer. The ones that are not Macs the students may have left them in their dorm.

Hey guys! Funny, when I saw the thumbnail, I said to myself, "Dang, that looks just like one of my classes." Then I clicked the link, and realized it was MU.

I can confirm that picture is not staged. Nearly every person at this school has a laptop, and I'd say at least 75% (If not more) are Macs. The school of journalism requires an Apple laptop for the courses. And since we have a very solid computer store on campus, most students purchase their laptops there because of the good prices (Usually student discounted regularly, but includes case, iWork, and 3 years of Applecare).

I'm currently using just a regular Macbook, but that's because I purchased mine before my senior year in HS (I'm a freshman now). I really don't have any journalism specific classes right now. Nevertheless, I'll likely get a MBP after the next refresh.

Even out of the journalism classes, I'd say a good one in three students bring a laptop with them to class.

my school is the same. i call the library the apple farm, granted though it is an art school. Either way i predicted this would happen 7 years ago. apple is selling to the younger generation. I did notice thought that one person seems to have a green looking mac. Look on the isle on the left. There are sitting in an isle seat, 4 or 5 rows down from the top on the left.

This picture seems like it might be staged or something, but I believe that a poster above mentioned that they go to this school, and that Macs are heavily supported there. In any case, my university doesn't have a major Mac influence (just regular deals, like the EDU store) and in my lectures, the ratio of Macs is still very high. On a bad day, it's 1:1 Mac versus PC. On a good day, it's very close to 3:1. I guess "the times, they are a changin'":p

yeha in my school is around 50/50 as well at least in my courses, if anyhting 40(mac)%/60(pc)% and i ve seen a coupel of linux machines as well

Last year, I was the only Mac user I saw around campus, bar one occassion, where I went into an open lab and saw another Macbook running Windows XP...
One of my favourite lecturers uses a Mac, but he's never brought it along to any of his seminars etc.
I do like being in the minority though, it's more fun!
